Cannot pay for an item

I won an auction, item is located in UK so there is a currency conversion (yes they ship to America with the proper international shipping charge in invoice). I've tried paying 3 times on 2 different cards (both cards are good with a lot of available credit remaining.)  Each time I get a message saying I successfully completed the checkout with the payment in pending. Then 10 minutes later when I click on the order it said payment failed, and the item ends up in my cart again.

Oh, and I just checked my cc account and there's like 10 pending temporary purchase authorizations from eBay for this one transaction. Definitely a problem on eBay's end.

How much experience does the seller have with selling? It is possible that the seller has not set up the account correctly to receive payment from overseas, or the seller has not completed the conversion to managed payments on time.

If neither of those seem to be relevant, contact the seller to see if there are any other reasons why the payment might not go through.

Some cards may need to be unlocked after several unsuccessful transactions, so you may need to contact your bank.

Or wait a bit and try checking out on ebay.co.uk instead of ebay.com.

They are a pretty big seller, a charity organization with over 4,000 feed back, even if they don't have a bank account set up, which I'm sure they do, the payment would clear and go to eBay and be put on hold in the sellers pending funds. I think I'll wait for all those temporary authorizations in my cc account to be removed before trying again. It's a fairly expensive item, and now I'm afraid of getting charged multiple times.
