I am currently locked out of my primary Ebay account even though I know my name and password. The two-factor auth notification is not arriving in my new phone so I am stuck at the screen shown below, so I am stuck.
Trying to contact Ebay customer care or tech support feels like a dog chasing his own tail. I have been trying to contact Ebay technical support over the phone and they only have a recording that just tells you to go to the website and then hangs up. No options to speak to anyone. I would be happy to look through their online help except for the fact that it is useless as there is no information whatsoever on how to recover from 2-factor authentication issues. What a shame of a company this is! Then in the website there is no way to contact anyone. They have a chat option which doesn't work, it says it is unavailable, so that's useless. Ebay just has quite possibly the worst two factor authentication mechanism that I have seen as it allows people to get locked out of their account and then leaves people without help. I have been trying to login to my account for days without success, and then to top it off, the worst customer service I have ever seen.
I understand that under the current pandemic situation companies have been severely affected, but if they don't have anyone to answer the phone or the chat, why not just say so instead of leaving us chasing our own tail? Is there anyone here that can offer any help?

Sorry I was frustrated when I started the thread. But I have tried calling as indicated, but instead of transferring to an agent, there is only a recorded message and then it hangs up.
Now, I accidentally found a way to contact someone and they were able to help me, but here's how I did it: by using a second Ebay account (this account used to post this), I went to the Help page and at the bottom I discovered there is a link that says "Have us call you". See picture...
What's bizarre about this is that this option only shows up if you are signed in. So how can a person who is locked out of their account speak to someone if the only way to be able to talk to someone is if you are already signed in? A chicken-and-egg problem here. Lucky for me, I already have this second account and was able to use it to be able to have them call me since I was unable to login to my primary account.
If you are NOT signed in when you go to the help page, there's only a link to "Email Us", and also the "chat with us" link which says it is not available at this time. So the only workaround to this problem is if you have a second Ebay account that you can login to, or if you ask someone else to help you by using their account so you can get to the "Have us call you" link. So technically, this means there is no real way to reach someone over the phone if you are locked out of your account, unless you have a second account. I hope this bit of knowledge would help someone else in the same situation I was.

For security issues involved to getting into your account, try the procedure outlined in the following post:

Glad to hear you were able to get help.
The account security number should be available 24 hours a day; I have not used it, but others that have during the last month or so have indicated that it was working, even when eBay was not answering other numbers due to the call centers being shut down.

This did not work for me. HOWEVER after having the automated phone hang up on me 3X, I used the terminology referenced in a reply to this post, and I got through to a real operator!!
When the automated message asked me the reason for my call I answered "Account Security" and I got a live operator that disabled the 2 factor authentication. Hope this helps someone because when things like this happen its very frustrating. Good luck if your here.........
