Cannot Add or Update Bank Account in Seller Payout

Is anyone also having this issue? As I'm trying to update my bank account in the Payout, Ebay immediately gives out: 

"Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later."

 

and returns to a page says:

 

Our server is down, but we’ll have things back to normal soon. If you still need help, visit our help pages.

A mild correction. In Method 3, there is one additional in between popup screen which doesn't make a difference but at the end when I try to add my bank account, the error message is different than in the first two methods where it now reads more vaguely as, "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later."

So currently there is no bank information showing on your Payment account screen, and if you try to enter a bank by selecting "My bank is not on the list" and enter the information manually you are still stuck even though using the correct matching information for account number and name. 

 

Sounds like some old hidden data causing a problem, clear your browser's cookies and cache to force a known fresh page and data entry screen.  Some have even reported issues using certain versions of various browsers, so may be worth trying a different one.

Wow... even when I sent my reply, which I spent time detailing my thoughts got an error and my content wasn't even saved. Here is my second attempt.

 

To you first your summary paragraph, that is correct.

 

Regarding your second idea, I tried all that early on when I first reported. All the standard tricks of starting the browser with a clean data slate so no chance of saved wrong data being retained by the website is used. I have attempted to add my bank on this account using Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Firefox to the same result. I'm not about to log in every day onto each browser to see if somehow they patched it up on one browser over another. While I understand that each browser interacts and has different protocols in the data exchange, for the most part it shouldn't really matter.

 

Maybe I didn't mention this before, but eBay told me it's a known issue that many users are having and as I found out the other day from here that it's been a known issue months before I reported it to them. My best guess is that it's an ETI file structure issue. I've done a lot of work in that realm and it almost always boils down to the data packet (usually a text file) not being constructed according to agreed designs so the bank's system rejects the file thereby passing it along to the user as in the form of the errors I have seen. Alternatively, the response file or confirmation that eBay gets from the bank is not being parsed correctly so it reads invalid data from what it thinks is the confirmation field and defaults to an error. The funny thing is that such an issue is easily fixed in a day or two as a few test file submissions and review of the file structure guidelines would narrow down on whether such an issue is occurring and where in the ETI process it is happening. Certainly, there could be other protocols at play including some form of security encryption and decryption which might be more difficult for either side to verify but again that is something that should be fixable in a few days at most.

Actually this type of problem has been happening since day one, over a year or more ago.

 

The problem you described sounds like what was happening for Credit Union banks.

 

There is an ebay group just for Managed Payment problems, but I can't seem to find the link.  Suggest you contact ebay by sending a private message below, where there are more informed reps to help you.

That's even more alarming.

 

I don't use Facebook nor Twitter and as mentioned I already contacted eBay multiple (many, many) times and spoke with several "concerned" department reps from the Managed Payments team, the Account teams, Selling teams, being transferred around like a tennis ball in a casual rally. They have a ticket number for my complaint and all they could tell me at this point is to just keep trying to enter my bank information on a daily basis. Very puzzling.

 

I just saw this discussion and wanted to add in what I learned from talking to the eBay agents and my experience with this persistent technical bug. I guess it's random in the accounts it affects since clearly there are new sellers on a regular basis who are able to add their bank accounts.

I'm having the same problems.
I've been trying for 4 days to add a bank account for 'payouts' but I can't.
The instructions they give just don't exist.
I go to payments like they say and no matter what I click on (edit) all it shows are the credit cards I use to buy.
There is nowhere to select adding bank details (clicking on bank account for payouts just isn't where they say it is.)
So I go to sellers hub and try and use that but it say's 'something went wrong, try again')
I go to some other place and it say's to 'update your personal details.'
I HAVE 20 TIMES.

I've never sold anything on ebay before and it looks like I never will.

@jr_6_6_6  Go ahead and list your first item, as soon as you do, it will ask for your bank information for payouts.

Awesome! Thanks mate. I was wondering if that would work but I didn't want to take the chance incase I couldn't end the auction/sale if I couldn't give ebay my bank details. 
I'll give it a go tomorrow.  I'll let you know how it went, just incase it can help someone else out.

I'm having this problem as well nearly a year later. Horrible experience. One of the most useless error messages I've seen in a long time, provides absolutely no insight on how to resolve the issue or what went wrong. Probably because no one at Ebay knows what went wrong either, I'm guessing or how to fix it! Incredible they forced their entire customer base over to them instead of an actual payments processor who knows what they're doing and the best they can do is throw up a generic "Something went wrong" error.

This isn't a server issue, I don't even get that message. Clicking on "Try Again" or "Contact Customer Service" links lead to nowhere. I've seen endless replies about "trying in a different browser", sorry folks this is all on Ebay's end and has nothing to do with browsers. Going to cross my fingers manual entry of banking info works or else...I have no idea what to do. Less than 3 months away from Christmas, I'm sure this all work out for sellers before then, right?

I can't even access the seller hub AT ALL--sorry something went wrong, NO help from the chat, just a bunch of links on how to's-that don't even tell you HOW TO DO anything useful. I go to add an account and adding a bank isn't even an OPTION, just card or PayPal, when I try and post my listing I get the "verify your PayPal account" which even more hysterical since Ebay doesn't even use PayPal anymore and my PayPal account has been verified for years. SO FRUSTRATING, and no help in sight.
