This programmatic behavior is so stupid I can hardly believe it.
1. Using a computer (you know, the things people use when they have to do actual work), go to any listing that has a picture graphic that will enlarge if you hover over it.
2. Hover over the graphic, but don't click. Note that the "picture enlarger" box appears.
3. Also notice that an unnecessary, hideously stupid popup message comes up, displaying some basic info about the listing.
4. Move the mouse so that it hovers over the popup window.
5. The magnifying window closes, because you can't hover over two things at once and have them both work.
Happens on Chrome and Edge.
Come on guys. Really, does any eBay employee care about this place anymore?

Moving the mouse cursor over an item picture may produce such a text box.
Whether or where exactly that text box appears depends on your particular browser. If the text box is big, it interferes with picture magnification any time the cursor touches the box, when moving the cursor around to examine the picture carefully.
One possible workaround: in the pictures I looked at using the Edge browser, the text box appears slightly above the cursor when it is moved over the picture. If you move the mouse cursor slowly over the picture from the top edge (stopping on the edge of the photo), the text box appears outside the frame of the picture, and then does not interfere with the magnification as you move your cursor around the picture.
In Chrome, the text disappears, but then reappears in the center of the image.
In Firefox, the text appears to the right of the cursor, but disappears again if you move the cursor.
