Background removal tool completely broken on mobile

Is anyone else experiencing this? Background remover turns the item white and the background black and won't work on any new listings.

Actually, you are taking the wrong approach. You have too much border showing around the picture. Removing the background would not be much of an improvement.  Instead of worrying about the background (which in this case is not objectionable) you should have just cropped the picture as I show below. That would enlarge the individual covers and make them more prominent in searches.

Oh, and next time take it as more of an overhead shot so the back photos are the same size as the front and get rid of that fading away slant.

Not laughing at you OP, but at this "tool" that they spent who even knows how much money on, and it does what you've posted.

I tested it using an image of my mousepad (the same image the background removal tool had no problem making a very clean cut of just a few days ago) and I'm getting the same thing.

Yes, mine started this yesterday. Glad to see they are working on it. It was more like a xerox of the image rather than background removal.

I just noticed on Android, the button to remove the background is now missing. I guess they are working on it? I hope they bring it back.

Yes! I had the same exact problem over the weekend and then suddenly the feature was not available at all anymore?!
