Re: Anybody else getting Server down

I am SO FRICKIN' FED-UP with this **bleep**!!  These idiot so-called "webmasters" never have a FRICKIN' CLUE as to **bleep** they are doing!!  I can't even get to my frickin' messages now!
"It’s not you. It’s us.
Our server is down, but we’ll have things back to normal soon."
Ebay just NEVER GIVES A **bleep** about their MYRIAD of problems!!

If your usual messages page is not loading, there are some alternate links that may work better in this thread, if you are looking for a workaround to reach your messages:

Yes, I've been getting this error message for a few weeks now and it pops up in the weirdest places.

Re: Anybody else getting Server down

Also, am having problems with accessing the watch list and having problems with trying to get the pages to load. Been having the problem with pages loading for weeks now, first thought it was my iMac, talked tp apple, problem is only here on ebay. This is really costing money when you can't get a search to load or the page you want to look at to load. I'm getting tired of this spinning beach ball.

It might be worth trying another browser to see if you encounter the same issues. If so, that would tend to rule out browser problems. But if another browser loads those pages without problems, you might be able to go back to your original browser and delete your temporary internet files and eBay cookies to see if that helps at all.

If you have issues reaching your Watch list page, you might try seeing if you can reach your Summary page instead -- your watch list items are shown there as well.

The "Server down" message is fairly generic, and can be encountered in a number of different situations that have nothing to do with eBay's servers actually being down. It can often be the result of an improper forwarding link of some kind, or a page that is just not loading properly.

Re: Anybody else getting Server down

YEP!!  Same frickin' B/S here with the "Watch List" screw-ups!!  "Watch List" items in the list are NO LONGER SHOWING "Added to your Watch list | Remove | Buy it now to make it yours!" on the products' pages!!  Now people have NO FRICKIN' IDEA if what they're viewing is in our "Watch Lists"!  You go to the listing pages and you STILL SEE: "Add to Watchlist" in the drop-down because it's too frickin' STUPID to know it's already IN your list!  (Just how the hell can members remember ALL HUNDREDS of items in our lists??)   Furthermore, this **bleep**:

"Oops, we had a technical hiccup
Please try again later."

"Sorry, we couldn't complete your request. Try again later."

Notice how the evil Ebay jerks are IGNORING this thread!  As always, they DON'T GIVE A SCHITT about their myriad of problems, NOR do they give a schitt that they are DRIVING MEMBERS AWAY due to their utter INCOMPETENCE!!!!

I am seeing the same behavior this morning regarding Watch List items -- no blue banner at the top, and items already on the Watch List still have an active "Add to Watchlist" link. So it is hard to tell if an item is on the list already or not. Seems to be a problem in multiple browsers, and clearing cookies has not affected things. I do see a blue banner when adding an item to the Watch list (even if it is already on the list), but if I refresh the page or navigate away and back, the banner disappears.

Interestingly, the other list items seem to still have the blue banners -- at least if I add an item to another list, I can see it, and that "add to list" option is greyed out in my list of lists on that item page. So as of right now, it is only Watch list items that are problematic for me. Using other lists might be a workaround, assuming you do not need your items to be easily findable using the app (which only supports the Watch list).

For the record, eBay personnel rarely participate in any discussion threads, particularly on the weekends.

I don't follow you there.  Do  you mean other "lists" you've created within the "Watch List"?  NONE of the nearly 200 items in my "Watch List" are showing the blue banner indicative of them being in the "Watch List".  I have created one other "sub" list, or so  I thought, but it's gone!

The Watch List is the default list -- everyone has a Watch List, and it cannot be deleted (though you can delete all the items on it). I believe that everyone also has a Wish List, though that can be deleted. All of the other lists are custom lists that you can name. Although you can reach them through your Watch List page, they are not part of your Watch List, so not really "within" the Watch List.

Using a desktop browser, from an item page instead of adding an item to your Watch List use the little arrow next to the "Add to Watch List" button located below the "Bid" or "Add to Cart" button. You should see a drop-down with your "Add to Watch List" "Add to Wish List" and any other of your custom lists, and at the bottom "Add to a New List". If you choose that new list you can give the list a name, and it will appear as one of the options using that arrow next to "Add to Watch List".

Here is my collection of custom lists looked at from an item page -- this item is actually on two of my lists:
