1st class shipping

I made new listings for mouse pads it had 1st class mail flats as a option. So I listed that way. So I sold some and went to print labels and no 1st class option. So instead of 2.50 1st class it only has ground for 4.50

Not a "technical issue".

1st class -----------------  letters..........................  flats  do not have "tracking".

If your mouse pad will go in a large envelope "flat" (and meet the characteristics) it can be shipped with stamps. That is why it is an "option", but the sender must decide before choosing if that shipping service will actually fit their needs.

Hi @sight-sound . First Class Mail / Large Envelope is an untracked service and not offered through eBay labels. If you want to ship with that service you can purchase postage at the post office or at stamps.com if you have a subscription there.

Shipping untracked comes with the risk of having to pay out on non-receipt claims without tracking. For a $10 free ship mouse pad, I'd be fine taking the risk because it's low dollar and most buyers are honest, but it is still a risk. Up to you.

I've shipped plenty of product as untracked flats, and as untracked letters with postage stamps. So far I think I had to pay out on a non-receipt claim only once.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but, when you use a stamp or any "untracked" method, how do you indicate to ebay that you shipped?

Simply "Mark As Shipped" in the item listing? That would be the same as adding a tracking number to show you shipped within your handling time frame?

Thanks

You "mark as shipped" @monica-sells but it will be a hit to your tracking uploaded on time and validated stats because there's no tracking. So the account needs to be able to withstand that hit if you're trying to maintain TRS. Many sellers use a separate account for untracked shipments so it doesn't affect their TRS status on the account where they used tracked shipping.

I guess my real question is. Why is 1st class still a option when making listing if it's not available to print labels after sale.

A lot of sellers don't purchase labels through eBay. There are many sellers that use FC shipping. Should those sellers be punished and denied that option just because some sellers offer the service even though they're not familiar with it?

As has been stated.

You can put stamps on it and mail it as a "flat".

Selling on eBay is not restricted to having to use tracking.

Some sell items that do not need tracking.

Tracking is not required by eBay except to obtain/maintain TRS, and to prove delivery.
