Community Boards https not secure?

Community Boards https not secure?

Hi, Ship: a few questions:

1. Been accessing Community Boards since November. Still, today, the https:community doesn't show the usual green Secure. I get that circle with exclamation point. When I click on it, it says still open to attacks. "Your connection to this site is not fully secure."

2. I don't use Seller Hub. Store Manager only. Has the same thing as above when I am on my Summary page. The store and individual listings all show the green Secure, but not the Summary Page.

3. All of my internal listings are correct re: https and mobile checker which you looked at for me last month.

4. We talked about this last month I think: now that my Starter Store is correctly set up (I downgraded from Basic to Starter), do I go in and do those fixes re: the keyword part of the Store where it still shows repeating titles in each area rather than the keywords I put in there years ago? Or do I just ignore since I think I read somewhere eBay is handling the keyword placements?

Any help would be appreciated.

eBay will eventually update the store management page, but possibly not until all stores are migrated into the new format. Google Chrome will continue to up its game to scare users, and eventually eBay will move as much as possible to display as secure.

But there is no rush on some pages because the Chrome "scare tactic" is mostly smoke on pages where security does not matter (Chrome assumes that any page with an input field, like a search box, might transmit sensitive data, but we know there is nothing that sensitive about a search string).  eBay is more concerned about the buyer experience with those warnings and I suspect eBay will address the seller experience last.  It's all about appearances.

In October 2018, Chrome will add a red warning to all "http" pages, so I suspect that will be eBay's target deadline for all buyer-facing pages, including the one-click-away pages that were an interim solution allowing sellers more time to update their listings.

eBay staff replied here on the forums that eBay will be handling SEO for the search engines and would be deprecating the keyword function for stores. So I'm going with "do nothing" until they change that advice.

With the exception of your own listings and legacy custom store content, there is nothing for you to do on any other pages that are not secure.  eBay will move those non-secure pages when all the modules catch up.  "Not secure" just means that your data back and forth are not carried over an encrypted connection and anyone might be able to "wire tap" and see what is being sent — and for most of eBay, that really does not matter.  Encryption only matters when supplying sensitive information like a password or personal info, and eBay has encrypted those areas from the beginning.

I can't imagine how eBay will be able to make the forum communications on the threads secure when eBay still allows members to add outside photos. It will always be a mixed bag unless eBay severely limits what is allowed.  But again, it doesn't really matter on the forums except on the login screen.

Thanks for your reply. You are ALWAYS helpful.

But, you used the term Legacy store. I have the Billboard. I only use Store Manager not Hub and that summary page for Store Manager (I think people call it the "Classic" view?) is not totally secured. But the Store itself is secure as are all the listings. Am I not following?

Your comment about these Community Boards not being secure I guess made sense. I just thought everything on eBay was to be secure.  Thanks again.
