if i opt out of ebay managed payments how would my account be restricted? number of listings? what's the punishment? it takes too long to get paid, when paypal used to be instant, and ebay wants me to ship within 24 hours but i don't get paid for 5-6 days (shrugs)

opt out you will not be selling at all: still can purchase but not sell.
MP is here to stay. Ebay make money not PP.

You cannot opt out. No MP- No Selling.

To my knowledge, you cannot opt out of Managed Payments and still sell on eBay.
As for the punishment, I'm not certain, but I believe you will no longer be able to list new items or revise your current listings.
eBay allows you to select your handling time. They do not force anyone to ship within 24 hours.
If you have your payouts set for daily, it should not take five to six days to get paid.

If you opt out of Managed Payments as a way to get paid, then you are opting out of selling on eBay.
You can still be a buyer, however.

To the OP:
If you can't sell, How could eBay punish you?
I received payment 22 times in July
The money flows is at a slower rate, But it does flow.
If you sell somebody $1,000.00 worth of Morgans Friday Am at a show, And they write you a check, How long will it take before you before you
have that cash in your hand?
All 3 of my selling accounts are now in MPs, No biggie. I've adjusted and so can you.

EBAY no longer uses PAY PAL for money management. The new MANAGED PAYMENTS is required if you want to continue selling on EBAY.
To ensure in MANAGED PAYMENTS you must provide your CHECKING ACCOUNT (9-digit routing# only) and SOCIAL SECURITY# (for tax purposes). Name on your checking account, social security card and EBAY profile page must be EXACT MATCH (otherwise your application may be denied). No nicknames allowed.
With MANAGED PAYMENTS money is deposited into your checking account 5-7 AFTER purchase. EBAY deducts (selling fees and shipping costs) immediately (balance is deposited into your checking account). EBAY "holds shipping money for you" so there is funds available when you print label. When you print label (go to bottom of page) and click "use pending funds".

If I don't print my label on eBay (I plan to use something else) do they then transfer the shipping money since a label was never printed through eBay? Does it transfer at the same time as the payment for the item? Ebay should not be assuming everyone will print their label on eBay and be holding money out for a label that may never get printed through eBay.

PayPal would front the money while the payment was processing, MP does not to that.

eBay doesn't want you to ship within 24hours, YOU set your handling time. Once an item has been marked as paid, you HAVE been paid. The funds just haven't been transferred to your account yet, just like when you swipe your card at a B&M store, you have paid for your purchases but the money doesn't instantly show up in the store's bank account.

You cannot opt out of Managed Payments. You also cannot sell without Managed Payments as there is no way for you to be paid. eBay wants to pay you, but you have to provide the necessary information to make that happen.
It's your decision whether to continue selling on eBay or not. If you want to sell on eBay, you will be paid through Managed Payments. Below are some links that might answer your questions:

eBay doesn't 'hold' any specific payment for labels - the payment is the payment. It's your responsibility to decide where you print the label, either eBay or another app. eBay doesn't care and they don't read minds as to where someone is going to print labels - the payment transfers no matter what.

No, they won't. If you want to deduct the shipping from your MP balance, you must print your shipping labels through Ebay. And remember to make the proper selection as to where you want the funds to come from to cover the shipping label. MP or PP.

Read the emails you get from Ebay regarding it being time for you to onboard. They usually state what your date is for getting your registrations for MP done and explaining what will happen if you don't.
If you have questions or concerns on how the process functions, please ask. Here are some links that will help you to better understand the program. They are short and easy to read and very informative.

eBay doesn't assume everyone prints a label through them. It's just an option. If you buy postage elsewhere, the shipping amount that the buyer paid you is transferred to your bank account (after eBay fees) with the rest of the buyer's payment.
