delayed payment

on april 6th ebay said money will be transferred on 8th. on  april 7th ebay said money will transfer on 8th and oh btw we need your social security number... on the 8th ebay hasn't transferred money. i told the buyer i would ship today (the 8th) because ebay said the money would be in my account.  the shipping is a few hundred dollars. does anyone have any suggestions on how i can convince  ebay to release my money today? now? also, doesn't it seem like if ebay needs info to transfer money shouldn't they ask for info immediately? and not wait a day and still say nothing will be delayed ....

Re: delayed payment

If eBay says the item is 'Awaiting Shipment', then your payment is confirmed. You can use the buyer's funds (those that are 'Processing') by ticking the box in the lower left of your label page... you won't be out-of-pocket those costs.

And, yes... being a new seller, the money will be on Hold. Here's a link to explain. > Payments on hold | eBay

Re: delayed payment

You can purchase shipping through ebay using pending payments.

Regarding payments; ebay uses Managed Payments- directly depositing into your bank account. You need to give the bank info, social sec number (for 1099 irs requirements etc.). This should all be set up BEFORE you list. Since you listed and then sold, you'll have to go through the process.

Do NOT make the buyer wait. You will have issues. Use pending payment for shipping and ship asap (you must ship within your stated handling time).

Re: delayed payment

There are a few different situations here.

The first is that eBay Holds payments on new and returning sellers until they can show good customer service.

The Hold can be up to 21 days, but is shorter if the seller can show tracking and  delivery .

The idea is that once you are told the customer's payment has been received by eBay, you ship.

The SSN may have something to do with Managed Payments. Did you have a Managed Payments account set up when you listed? Do you have one now?

Without an MP account, eBay cannot pay you.

EBay and Paypal parted ways in 2015, and by now no sellers can accept PP payments.

Then with an MP account, your accumulated payments, less fees, are transferred to your bank. The default is weekly, but you can choose daily or monthly if you prefer.

Your first step here is to get your customer's paid for purchase on its way.

Then make sure you have a Managed Payments account to receive that payment.

FWIW - I had a lot of difficulty setting up two MP accounts on two of my IDs. But once done all the accumulated money was promptly transferred and all has gone smoothly since.

Re: delayed payment

Have to ask:  Are you set up to receive payments with Managed Payments?

Re: delayed payment

thats a very nice table.  the table needs to be shipped. ebay is expecting you to ship and they are also are  expecting you to get the red tape out of the way for payment

selling the item is only half of the equation as far as ebay is concerned

they want to see items shipped.  they dont want to see new sellers waiting for a bank deposit

ebay lets folks sell before they have all the red tape taken care of and then you will have a delay in getting the transfer done

ebay is a great place to sell things like that table

good luck

Re: delayed payment

@posse45ct

They need your SSN so they can send you a 1099-K next year.

If you're waiting for the funds to be in your checking account before you ship, it's going to be awhile.

You're considered a new seller and the price of the item, your funds will probably be held for 30 days.

Have A Great Day.

Re: delayed payment

The listing shows 6 to 10 days delivery. That means after eBay shows the buyer paid and it was awaiting shipment then that is when your handling time begins, and you need to get it to them by 10 days after they paid eBay.  It doesn't matter how long your funds take to get in your bank account after they paid!  That is not the buyer's problem that you haven't shipped because eBay hasn't put the money in your account yet.

It normally only takes 2-3 days to get the money in your account but not when you have only only sold 1 item in a year. If you haven't sold in over 6 months they treat you like a new seller and hold funds until tracking shows delivered, or in 21 days if there's no tracking, and they can hold items costing over a thousand bucks 30 days.

Are you sure the size of the table doesn't  exceed measurements for USPS Ground?  Looks like a freight delivery.
