Why no split payments in TYOOL 2021?

Buy a thing. Check doesn't clear as fast as I thought it would. Hey fine, I'll split the payment. Nope, can't do that. eBay suggests buying a gift card and doing it that way. Fine. Oh what's that? eBay won't let me use my gift card for this purchase.

So now I'm sitting here with a $30 gift card I don't need and the seller is waiting on their payment still. Guess they'll be waiting about a day, which I hate doing.

Meanwhile, I haven't been able to list coins (even non-circulating non-currency coins) with basically no communication from eBay about it other than to direct me to an article that helpfully (hah) explains that they're not letting me do it due to policy.

Meanwhile you have scammers and rip off artists running wild. "Scrap gold" which is just polished brass. "Photo of GPU" for sale. Bots/scalpers running amok. But I can't even do a split payment?

I believe you need to go through PayPal to use a gift card.

In what situation can you make payment for an eBay purchase with a personal check?

A check hitting my checking account didn't clear as fast as I thought it would, hence I had to split the payment between two accounts. I didn't say I was paying the eBay seller with a check.

In the end, I had to message the seller and tell them that they just had to wait a day or so. They were fine with it, but that was embarrassing. eBay just doesn't care huh?
