Photo ID for MP

Hey. Hope you all are doing well. I was just wondering some things about the new MP system and photo ID.

Firstly, why eBay would need a photo ID for Managed payments?

Lastly, what would happen if I do not upload the ID before the timeframe? 

It really kind of sucks that my payments are being placed on hold atm and I would like to resolve the issue by just uploading ID, but I am a little bit curious and reserved. 

Any help would be appreciated.

To continue to sell on eBay you will need to give them your ID, SS#, Bank Account, Credit Cards,  Birth Certificate, First Born, etc etc etc

I didn't require a photo ID. I didn't have to upload anything.

All I did was enter my SSN and CU account and routing number. That was all it took.

Others have had vastly different experiences, not really sure why.

I've been in MP since October 2018.  At that time, I didn't need to do anything.  I was using my federal credit union checking account and specified to use it for my payouts.  They already had my SSN from Paypal.  It wasn't until earlier in 2020 when they asked for me to upload my photo ID, bank statement and a voided check.  Took a few minutes to scan all of that and upload it to them.

I just successfully entered into MP.  I wasn't asked for photo ID, I  wasn't asked for anything other than to input my SS#, checking routing/acct #.  I received my first payment into my checking acct yesterday.   An ebay phone rep told me I may be asked to upload a voided check  at some point, maybe in a few weeks.  No mention of photo ID.

Process went much faster than expected.  I entered the SS#, routing#, Acct# on New Years eve.

To my surprise, Monday Jan 4th I received notification from ebay that my checking acct was verified and my MP balance was paid out.  The first payment appeared in my checking acct the very next day, Tuesday Jan 5th.

When we initially register, we give MP our SSN, Bank routing number and our bank account number.  For many sellers that was enough info for MP to verify us.  For those that had the registered name on Ebay match PERFECTLY with the bank account being attached, most of us never had to do anything else to satisfy the needs for MP.

That is how it likely went for most sellers.  But if there was even the smallest difference like a middle initial with the name on your Ebay account and your name on the checking account you are wanting to attach, then it can cause some issues and further info needed.

I surely hope they never ask me for a photo ID because the name on my driver's license will not totally match the name on my eBay account or my bank account or bank statements or voided checks. I'm beginning to think it won't be worth the aggravation

They don't ask for it from everyone.  I'm not sure of what triggers their need for it, so I guess you will just need to wait and see if they ask.

If they ask for driver's license I think I will just tell them I don't have one! LOL

I would make sure it is actually EBAY requesting this info.

Sounds very suspicious since no one has ever mentioned needing a photo ID that I have ever seen.

Oh that has been asked for by MP for some sellers for months now.  Not everyone has to do it but for some that are having problems with getting their accounts verified MP does ask for this.  It has been on many threads over the past several months or more.

Over here photo id is a must - license or 18+ card of our relevant State if you have no license.

Not sure how it works for you guys but our license has to show our legal name (proven at the time by birth/marriage certificate) and latest address (easy to update that part)

That is how it has to be here too, at least where I live, and you have to bring in documents (such as your birth/marriage certificate and a current bill or bank statement) to prove both things. Once you've done that, the only time you will ever need to provide those documents is if you change your name or address.
