Managed payments

I have been a very casual ebay user since 2001. I buy and sell low to medium value items. I sold 2 items today for a whopping $8 and a message came up saying I needed to update my information and they were withholding my funds. Now, they are asking for EVERY personal piece of information that someone would need to breech my security. I've been reading some posts about this and it seems like this has been going on for over 2 years. Why no warning? Why not tell me so I had a chance to delete my listings? I loved PayPal because I would just let it build up and have a couple hundred bucks spending money every once in a while. It was basically my Christmas fund. Now they want the money to go directly into my bank account. Well, I DON'T WANT THE MONEY IN MY BANK ACCOUNT.  Plus, THEY ALREADY HAVE MY BANK ACCOUNT INFO. Anyway, the real question is can I still BUY on ebay without giving my SS # etc.? Are they strong arming me that way too? They can keep my $8. I'm done selling. But I would like to continue buying.

Re: Managed payments

Another casual seller here, since '97. I will no longer be a seller. There's already too many places that have my info. I don't need eBay to be one of them.

Re: Managed payments

I am currently "on hold" for the 5th time with as many agents trying to straighten this out!  I have not sold close to $600 this year but yet my last payment is being withheld for SS#!  On top of this, the IRS has rescinded their reporting requirements for this year up to $20,000.00!  So, in effect, there is no reason for Ebay to be requiring SS#s for payout.  I have been an Ebay seller for 21 years and I am closing my account.

Re: Managed payments

The IRS requirements of 1099s for $600 in sales was rescinded for this year.  I think that is where a lot of the angst is coming from.  I know it is for me.  I find it particularly disturbing that Ebay is holding my money for my SS# when the IRS has raised the income ceiling back to $20,000 for now.  I feel like I'm being extorted.
