Managed Payments

Everyone else already tired of this new system?  Waiting for days to get your cash is not worth the "savings" it supposedly offers.  Are there alternatives within Ebay yet?  After 20 years of being on the site - looks like it is coming to an end.

Re: Managed Payments

There are all kinds of alternatives to eBay out there depending on what you sell. None have the traffic. A number of them even use the same payment system eBay has.

@nrpstarter   " ... alternatives within eBay yet? ... " Not sure what alternatives "within" in eBay you are thinking or hoping for but eBay offers NO alternative to Managed Payments.   As far as alternatives outside eBay you can certainly google online internet sales venues and go from there ...

Re: Managed Payments

You were waiting days to get money to your bank account with PayPal.  Of course, there are other sites for selling.  Check into them - depending on which one, payouts take longer than with eBay.

Honestly, I like MP - I do prefer it to PayPal.  Waiting for money shouldn't be an issue, especially for an established seller.

Re: Managed Payments

@powell-memorabilia Hi There. What is it about managed payments that you prefer? I've been on the fence with the switch over since receiving my initial "invite" months ago. I've read everything there is to read and see no advantage whatsoever with managed payments. Seems like the whole process takes longer and is much more complicated than it was with Paypal, while basically having the same fees. Aside from this being the only way to remain a seller here, I don't see any advantage. This is a totally serious question by the way. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything. Just trying to get a clearer picture. Thanks for your time.

Here's what I like about MP:

  • weekly payouts - easier for me to track performance and do the rough-numbers math on weekly profitability (I tend to spend a consistent amount on inventory, and usually make one weekly order).
  • Partial refunds (shipping discounts) are easier.
  • I don't have to affect payouts from PayPal to my bank - saves me the step of transferring.
  • I like that label costs are taken out of pending payments.
  • The small fee difference is nice, but not life-changing.  I have a pretty good percentage of orders going to the Europe (seems like Brexit has been good for sales), so I'm a bit better off than before, because of the sales tax/FVF issue.
  • Significant reduction in the monthly invoice - good to have FVF's taken out of the sale, not something I need to plan for

What I don't like about MP?

  • My PayPal debit card is usually at a low/no balance (I'd use that card for emergency packing supplies from Staples or Wal-Mart)
    • I suppose that is a net benefit - forces some discipline, as I now loathe running out of bubble wrap/peanuts/boxes/tape, so I have learned to keep plenty on hand.

Re: Managed Payments

Is it true that you will not be able to sell on ebay if you don't sign up? Can't be...

Re: Managed Payments

So, you'd rather not wait 4 days for your money and prefer not waiting at all for no money? I'm sorry, I don't get it.
