Managed Payments Rant

Just wanted to put it out there.  I'm not switching to managed payments.  Once my final listings are done, that's it.  I'm out.

I'm also of the opinion that a lot of other sellers have already left.  I'm seeing fewer listings for items, which in turn will lead to less customers if they aren't finding what they're looking for.

eBay should really pay attention to it's sellers as they're the ones that keep the customers coming.

No sellers, no customers.

Re: Managed Payments Rant

I have been buying and selling on Ebay for 20 Years. I have been gradually moving my listings elsewhere. Many of my Items for Sale are never listed on Ebay. These managed payments seemed like a good idea in the beginning, but Ebay refuses to deposit funds. I haven't had to wait too long, a few days. But, I decided not to ship out until I see that deposit.  Last week, I sold an item to someone I know so I shipped out the next day. My payment was to deposit the day after. I come to find out that it took the entire week for this deposit to happen with no explanation. Plus the extra's fees. And yes, don't you love that we are paying this over 12% on the item, the shipping and also the taxes that Ebay collects. Lucky for me that I decided long ago not to put all my eggs in one basket. Ebay used to be my highest outside source of income. Now 2 to 1 it is the lowest source of outside income. I am sure this is not a new story.

There are always be new sellers signing up, so there won't be a shortage on sellers or items.

Have a great day.

You are correct - if there are no sellers, there will be no customers.

But if there is one less seller, then the buyers will not even notice.

The gross merchandise volume sold on eBay in Q4 2020 was up 21% over the previous year, after 20% of sellers had been moved to MP.

Re: Managed Payments Rant

No need to "put it out there". You're not the first, you won't be the last. We get it; sellers aren't happy. Life goes on.

Re: Managed Payments Rant

I'm gonna tell ya...MP has not broken me. I have no idea what you sell as I have not looked but if you are my competitor and you are leaving. Adios 🙂 One less competitor for me. 🙂

Seriously, if you go through the sign up process (set up a separate checking account if you have to...I know...more fees....) but I have not had ANY problems yet and evidently I am the ONLY ebay seller on ebay that it's been working for or I am seriously missing something on my weekly recons that I do with my payouts and my sale receipts because I have not seen ANY hiccups...yet. That's the other thing...set up weekly payouts and not daily. I think you'll find less hassles.

I check a few items that I sold for roughly the same price that I received paypal payments on and then compared my fees and in ALL cases the MP fees came out less. Sometimes it was only 1 or 2 cents less. But hey...less is less...

I know. MP is NOT PayPal. Things change. Life changes. Roll with it. You'll go somewhere else and find changes there that will eventually totally tick you off. Then what? Leave because you're unhappy? How about figuring out how to make it work for you instead?

Anyway...if you are leaving. Good luck.

I agree wholeheartedly. MPs suck. I pay more fees because ebay charges fees for the taxes they collect.

Example: if tax on an item is $7.00 ebay charges 12.35% on those taxes. That is 86 cents. With paypal it was 20 cents. And those extra 66 cents add up quickly.

But not only do I pay more, I now have to wait about 5 days until I get paid. And when a buyer opens a return request ebay holds on to the payment amount but doesn't use it to refund the buyer. Instead they take the money out of my account to refund the buyer and it takes them a week to two weeks to release the funds they have been holding onto for said refund.

Also the payouts are completely confusing because each payout can be related to several different transactions, payments, holds, shipping and refunds. So everytime I get a payout I have to figure out what the payout was for and what is still missing from each transaction. I am not stupid but I am not an accountant either and recently I have spent way too much time on my account.

Everything ebay said about MPs was a lie. MPs didn't make things easier, I don't get my money faster and I definitely don't pay less fees.

Any one who says "it's not that bad. That's how it is now. Just go with the flow." has clearly never believed or stood up for anything in their lives.
