Managed Payment CONFUSION. No way to avoid "managed payment sellers?"

Appears that eBay has ONE WAY for selling for those of us who aren't eBay store subscribers.

Under the "Fees & Financials" section of the website, there is a hyperlink which states that

eBay will manage payments for all sellers in 2021

Likewise, in the list of "What You Need To Know" below that, the statement:

"eBay will require all sellers to register for eBay to manage their payments in 2021"

However, on the Spring 2021 Fee Update page, there is a link to:

Fees for sellers without payments managed by eBay and

If you don’t have a Store subscription and eBay doesn’t manage your payments

under "Selling Fees" there is this statement:

eBay now manages payments. If eBay sends your sales proceeds directly to your bank account, and you see Available funds in your payments summary - opens in new window or tab, then your account is already activated for managed payments and the fees on this page are no longer relevant to you. Please refer to our Selling fees for managed payments sellers article for the fees that apply to your account.

Am I missing something?

I guess it's "my way or the highway," eh?

The only thing I don't like is waiting, sometimes up to 5 days to receive payment. Right after the sale, they email you stating 'You've been paid" as soon as the buyer pays but that's a bunch of **bleep**. In the meantime, you (the seller) has to pay all the shipping fees up front. So, ebay is getting paid, long, long before we do. Do all of you realize just how many BILLIONS of dollars ebay has at there disposal just by waiting a few days to pay us as soon as they kicked off this program? Think about all that money in limbo. This is not for done you and it's **bleep** sure not done for me, its for them and no one else.

The money is not in 'limbo' - it's in the hands of the origin payment (credit card, apple pay, whatever) for processing. No merchant in the real world gets their money 'instantly' unless the buyer pays cash.  There is always a processing lag, usually about two days.  The fact that Paypal floated us little loans before the processing was done was nice, but that's done now - THEY didn't want to continue with an eBay exclusive contract, either.  I actually liked paypal, too, but I've also dealt with actual merchant payments and always knew it was a sweet deal getting my money before it was even processed.  I was surprised it continued for so long.

You can have daily payouts any business day.  Or weekly payouts.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

Re: Managed Payment CONFUSION. No way to avoid "managed payment sellers?"

I stood outside waiting the post office clear out some Thursday and another seller was out with me.  Just like "That other big sales place" I was told MP does not apply to the Enterprise level sellers such as Best Buy etc.  They process through their merchant accounts and thus when having issues are in the bank/processing and lawful loop.  Here according to him that is now gone except businesses of size can still use their merchant accounts.  He cited it as one of the reasons "That other place" has had their big merchants able to crush the small ones as they pay smaller fee's and thus can offer a better price.

I don't know how much of what he said is accurate or not but the question would be if you as a business seller want have your own merchant account can you?

It's no big deal either way here at eBay as the place isn't really chock full of huge business sellers albeit if they can use their own merchant account .vs. MP it might be more attractive and a good reason for eBay to move from PP when you think about it.

Ok, that makes more sense, but I don't like it. I just have to live with it.

Automatic payments are a serious problem if you have several addresses or cards.

Normally I choose the card but more importantly I choose the address to have an item I buy sent to.

With automatic the last used details are used instead. No opportunity to select what I want.

You are able to change your address and payment method before each bid or offer you place @kyriacos2 .
