International fee

I recently have been charged an additional fee "International Fee" which is being removed from my payments. Is this a new additional fee?

Not much, but adds up

Re: International fee

Yes, an international fee is charged to Managed Payment sellers if the buyer is located in an international location.

Re: International fee

Yes that is correct. When payments were processed thru Paypal they had one too.

Re: International fee

They're charging an additional 1.65% for any sale to a buyer registered in a foreign country, even if you are shipping to a US address (forwarding service). Also, I've heard that they think Puerto Rico is a foreign country.

Re: International fee

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but it was my understanding that the PayPal fee was connected to currency conversion. At least, that is what I was told by PayPal when I questioned it.

So far, I have been charged for a package shipped to California and another package within my home state of Florida. I spoke to an eBay CSR this week, and I was told that the current international fee has nothing to do with currency. It does not make sense. It is a charge for something that doesn’t exist. After a package is delivered within the US, eBay has no expense or time involved in a delivery outside the country, but a fee is charged to the seller because the buyer’s eBay account is registered outside the US. How can they justify charging this fee to the seller?

Re: International fee

During my recent conversation with an eBay CSR, we spoke about Puerto Rico, and she agreed with you and me that PR was not a foreign country. She may be the only one at eBay who knows this.

That error seems to have been corrected.

I did a post about it.

Tyler responded.

Credits to be given to those sellers that were incorrectly charged the additional fee.

I got my credit. Problem is..............   even though it was deducted from my processing/pending payments, that is not where it was returned to.

Now the rub.  It was done as an "invoice" credit. Being in MP with no store fees I now have no fees to be invoiced.  It was a small sale, so the fee was under $1.

Credit may be there forever.

Re: International fee

On the managed pay, what I have read is if the money is coming from non US payment source the fee is charged. You could also have a buyer in the US that has non US bank account and you would see the fee. What I have read points to it being a money transfer/conversion fee.

NO this is not a "new additional fee".

I don't know why this is confusing and/or concerning so many sellers.  We have ALWAYS paid an additional fee for international sales in PP.  So there is nothing new to see here.

However MP is 1.65% and PP is 1.50%.  So there is a slight increase there, but other than that, same type of fee.

In PP you see it as a 4.4% international fee rate which is 2.9% + 1.50% = 4.4%.

Re: International fee

I have international sales blocked.   Paypal had an option where you could NOT ACCEPT payments from a country other than yours.  I had that checked, so people couldn't use reshippers to send to other countries.

Not an option on Ebay.

Also, If you sell and it ships to a reshipper, ebay protection policies don't apply.   So in all, this new program has less protection for sellers.  The international fee is 1.65%.  Good luck in dealing with a problem on a credit card charge in a foreign country.

Re: International fee

I wish there was an option to refuse or know this so I can tack that fee on the buyer. It’s unfair to get charged an extra international fee even though I chose no international shipment.

I don’t see any “heads-up” about this until the product is shipped out. By that time it’s too late.

Another negative that’ll deter me from using eBay and/or charging more on it.
