Fees when on Managed Pay

For the life of me, I can not figure out how they come up with this fee.  I sold a rock collectible for  $53 plus 7.75 shipping.  I do not have an eBay store.  I was charged $8.34 in fees (no breakdown given).  I can not figure out how they come up with this amount.  Can someone please help me figure this out?

About 12.35%+.30. Looks about right if they paid sales tax too.

Fees when on Managed Pay

It just hit me overnight that fees were charged on the tax. Now I see how it comes to that amount.  Not sure why I gotta pay a fee on the tax but whatever.

Why are we paying a fee on tax?

Is that legal?

Fees when on Managed Pay

It is a processing fee on total paid(not a fee on the tax per se)and legal.Every time you buy w a card the store's/venues processor charges a fee on the total paid including tax

This is a user to user board not eBay employees.
