I think as a seller my choice in how I receive my payments is my business. If a customer pays me right away ebay has no reason to be holding my money and making me wait 5-7 days to get paid as well as telling me I have to ship before I even get paid. Not only that they screw you in the end by charging you 2.55% plus a percentage of shipping. Has anybody tried Mercari? Does anybody know if there is other options in how I am allowed to get paid so Ebay can stop controlling every aspect of my sales for their profit.

It doesn't matter. Ebay made the change to their own money processing system, which is their right to do.
FYI, it is no longer a 2.9% fee with PP. They significantly raised their fees on August 2nd.
The fees in MP have NOT increased overall fees. The following numbers represent those that do not have a store and the fee rate for most common categories [not all].
Fees BEFORE going into MP
10.20% FVF + 2.9% PP fees = 13.10% plus 30 cent per transaction fee.
In MP the fees are:
10.20% FVF + 2.35% money processing fee paid to MP = 12.55% plus a 30 cent per transaction fee.
Starting August 2nd, PayPal is raising their fees, so they will be as follows:
10.20 Ebay FVF + 3.49 PP Fee = 13.69% plus .49 cent Per Transaction fee
PP is apparently offering different fees to different sellers, likely depending on size. From what I've seen it is between 2.59% and 3.49%.

Why can't you answer these questions without the snide remarks. There's a lot of rude sellers in here answering questions as if they're better than the OP. The least you could do is ease the frustration in your answer.

Again, why are you resorting to answering us as if they're children? There's no reason for you to be rude, and aggressive in your answers.

Stop answering questions if you have nothing helpful to say. Is this now the norm for these threads? You guys are being very rude, and disrespectful

Yes, you are correct, some of us have gotten that way from time to time. But please try to understand. Ebay has been onboarding sellers in large groups every month since July 2020. So each month a new group of sellers came to the threads as if moving into MP was a new subject. Some act like it only was happening to them.
But each month for 14 months it starts all over again. So yes, for some that have been trying to help sellers in the onboarding process, we have gotten a bit tired. Not really and excuse, but it is why it is happening.

Wait, so you don't want others to be rude, but it is OK for you to be?

well, I was a PayPal holdout until yesterday. Been with them for 17 plus years and never had a issue, not one charge back. They now decided they are going to hold 100% of my payments until i build up a reserve of 750.00 Were they came up with that number 3 people and two supervisors cannot answer. They told me they are not a bank, that's fine , they are not holding my money then, I guess i need to switch. Feels like i just got stabbed in the back. received another email this afternoon from them about putting the reserve on. I don't sell big ticket items 16.00 is my products price and business fell off once a seller form china copied my adds. I just cant figure were 750 came from? Problem is now I sold a couple kits and its on hold in PayPal now, and when i went to pay for the shipping label, they didnt use those funds ,Paypal banged my credit card. I'm done with PayPal.

I went elsewhere and am quite happy.
I put up my listings and I can choose my payment method. I
n my listings, I have set my payment methods as PayPal, personal check and money order.
Me and the buyer arrange what they prefer.
I get the payment, and I ship. I print my labels in PayPal or USPS online.
The commission I pay is 1/2 eBay's.
I'm living the dream, i.e., liberation from eBay.

There are currently only two ways to pay for a shipping label through ebay, pending funds or paypal.

There are more than a few posters that do that... You get used to seeing it over and over.
Unfortunately their high handed approach oftentimes minimizes their comments that sometimes contains useful information.

I like the Paypal method...and I set my PP funding preference to a card that pays me cash back....so all the money I spend on shipping labels I purchase for eBay ends up working twice for me.

Certainly, I'm just curious why people hang around places they hate, that's all. I've left sites before and when I'm gone, I'm gone - why hang around someplace I don't like? 🤔
