clockwise or counterclockwise

Trying to buy a motor for my oil furnace. Can get one for a good price but one informational item not mentioned is

does the motor rotate clockwise or counter clockwise. Very important item not mentioned. everything else is there 

voltage, amps, rpm.  Need to know rotation.

Just swap the wires in the connector.

I am assuming yours no longer works so you cannot check direction. I am unfamiliar with a counter clockwise rotation.

When power windows go up or down, the switch just changes the position of the wires.

Um? No? Different wires.

Electric motor has 2 wires. If you put one wire to the positive battery cable and the other to the negative cable the motor spins one way. If you put the wires on the other way, the motor spins in the opposite direction. Thought you knew this stuff Mr.E.

Any window switch I have tested has different wires for up and down. I use a voltmeter as the switch is off the car. Round and round I go, finding the up and down.

Maybe some use the same wires, but, not the cars I have dealt with.

He said OIL furnace, which has an AC motor.  Switching wires will not do it.  However, a lot of AC motors are bi directional depending on how the internal wiring is set.  Usually there is a diagram on the back of the motor access plate.  Ask the seller if the motor is bi-directional or not.
