Hi,
I sent you this email regarding the 2014 Eagle Cargo 7 x 14.
The trailer is in perfect condition with clear title, no accidents, no liens or loans and it has just been completely serviced.
The price for the trailer is $800 (including delivery and handling to your address).
I'm selling this trailer because my dad of only 69 years died 2 months ago in a bike accident, the trailer belonged to my dad and it brings back bad memories and that's
the reason I want to sell it. My husband travels a lot with our business and we want to make
this deal through eBay Motors (Buyer Protection Program), so if you're interested in purchasing
the trailer just reply to me with your full name, full address and phone number so I can notify
eBay. Once that is done, they will contact you in the next hour to explain the entire procedure.
Here you have pictures attached.
This obviously looked sketchy. So i googled it. Found similar scams for other vehicles for sale: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Motors/eBay-Motors-Buyers-Protection-Program/m-p/29972557#M36311
Literally the same language just different relative, etc... These scammers are SO LAZY or dumb, these days. They don't even try.
Went back to the jerk on FB to find looking at their postings they had the same one in every state for impossibly cheap.

At some point Ebay and FB need to go after these people.....or someone needs to sue Ebay and FB for allowing it to continue.

You're right, of course, that something should be done about this; however, why do you believe that eBay is involved?
You found the trailer listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace, right? You were given the impression that the transaction would go through eBay Motors. This should have been your tipoff -- why would eBay cover a transaction on another site?
It's good to hear that you did not fall for this. Many others apparently are so dazzled by the deal that they fail to use common sense. The reports of these scams appeared to have tapered off somewhat on eBay, so I (mistakenly thought they had decreased).
Again, can you explain why you believe eBay should be sued when they had no involvement whatsoever?

OK, I think you misunderstood me as I was not fully explaining it. I do not believe it is any way Ebay's fault that the scam exists......but I do believe it is partly their fault for allowing it to continue and DO NOTHING. They need to sue FB and get them to stop it. If someone were doing this to my business I certainly would sue FB for allowing it to go on....and on.....and on..... It is giving Ebay a bad name and costs all of us sellers in the long run.

Your recommendation was that someone needs to sue eBay. I am quoting you directly. I did NOT misunderstand.
Yes, something needs to be done about this. But the entity who needs to do it is FACEBOOK, not eBay.

If you've done your research on the cost of enclosed trailers before looking you would automatically know it's a scam without even contacting the seller. Nobody sells a $6000 trailer for $800.
The ones that get my goat are the fully equipped concession trailers for $800 to $1400 or the Jeep Rubicons for $1,000.

I see what happened dude just got me. Well kinda. Questioned why car was so low on Facebook market place, dude instructed to email watsonlinda164@gmail.com. Didn’t open anything so no harm right? Didn’t even copy the email typed it out. No sooner do I send it eBay “account compromised alert! ⚠️ went through changed all the passwords etc. B!+<$ emailed me with whatever bull$!+ I was done at that point because I just got done reading this. It’s not eBay’s fault it’s more of Facebook to allow the spoof account to be active. But realize not paying enough attention to the name, weird an old white guy that looked like he might have been in Vietnam war name looked like possibly a Vietnamese name. Nghiem Vu Xuan, an alias to look 👀 for.

They don't have to try much, there's always someone out there ready to hand over their money for the great deal.

The only problem is the Ebay name doesn't come up on any of those sites, It's all through email.
