Did you see this item on another site? Craigslist, Offerup, Facebook, etc.? Did you pay with gift cards, and did the offer include free shipping, and Ebay buyer protection? If so, you were scammed. Ebay had nothing to do with this. You received a fake Ebay invoice, and if you called a given number you were speaking to the scammer. There is no way to get your money back. Gift cards are like cash, untraceable..thats why scammers love them. I hope I am wrong about presuming all this.

When you ask a question here, you need to give all the details of the problem if you want advice or suggestions.

For 1200 dollars it sounds like you bought into one of the most common tricks in the book. A late model car in great condition, free shipping, money back guarantee through eBay, and payable with gift cards. The sums of 1200 and 1400 dollars are the most common ones.
If so, that money was gone the minute you handed the numbers over. There is no recourse. The money is vanished and will never be traced. The police, FBI, Federal Trade Commission, and others have warned about this for many years. File complaints if you want but they will go nowhere except the circular bin.

You're going to have to give a little more information.
If you found the item on another site and paid with gift cards, the money is gone.
