Can anyone ID this chrome Harley plate and date it

Trying to ID this chrome Harley part.  It is a little bent up so don't know if it is worth listing, but trying to figure it out anyway.  It is 8" long.

TIA, Bryan

I can not date it but it looks to me like a chrome tail light shield.

When mounted it wraps the top and sides of the tail light.  The opening in the top is to allow light to pass through and illuminate the lisence plate.  I have a similar one on DW's Sportster.

Polish it up and it should be worth about ten bucks or so.

The best way to polish chrome is to dip wadded aluminum foil in water and use the aluminum foil as a polishing cloth.  Sounds counter-productive but it actually works!  I managed to polish some light surface rust off my ride using this method.

I learned about this method watching that TV show about the Las Vegas shop that restores all sorts of vintage things.  The shop was first featured on Pawn Stars and eventually spun off on it's own show.  I think the proprietor's name is Rick and the show may be called American Restoration.

I tried it because anyone that can take a rusted hulk and turn it in to a treasure MUST know their business!

You are welcome.

Here is a listing for a similar one.  I found it by running this search.
