model building

I am re-embarking on a new career of model building. Pete has been so helpful. It has been 30 or more years since my last building. I have started with a DPM kit..Corner Apothecary, which is plastic. After construction I am ready to paint. Want to use water based acrylics. Afterward have decals to apply. I have to order brushes, paints etc. Cannot airbrush (no facility). Where and what to buy and on line??? I am open to any and all suggestions. I also want to have it look weathered. What color paints...enamel/acrylic/primers/ brushes I need everything ? Is there a nice starter kit I can buy? Please guys I am open to all and any suggestions. Thanks and Happy New Year. I will post pictures of everything I build. Mel

Re: model building

piece of stretched pantyhose? Surely you have an old pair that you don't wear with the red dress anymore.

Re: model building

I'd go with the halloween spider web stuff. If you need some, I have bags of it. CJ]:)

Re: model building

Gene sent me a link to an auction and it looks like it will be good enough. It's the Halloween web stuff I guess. I like the fine thread and hairspray idea too. But can I weave a good looking web? Then I had another idea....dust bunnies! We seem to accumulate them around here with the four footed fur ball shedding all the time. And another idea came to me as I was looking at the WS polly fiber that can be stretched very thin. Green webs? HMMMMMMMM...... Dave, red fishnets are too thick to look good....;) Thanks for the ideas guys. B-)

Re: model building

Try taking dryer sheets and pulling them apart. Don't know if they will work but thats what comes to mind. Doug

Re: model building

Doug, I'll give that one a try too. I just bought the ones on the auction. If I don't like them, well, you know where they will end up. B-)

Re: model building

Another group activity... Does anyone have a favorite structure that they have built and/or a favorite still in the box?

Re: model building

I don't know about a favourite but I do have a small town worth of buildings in the unstarted category. ]:)
