The Daily Moose

Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Re: The Daily Moose

As of 230 pm Central Time, I walked out the door at work for the last time. :D I can now take my winter to enjoy my time off from hard work as well as enjoy the time off that I never took when I retired form the military. I now have the much needed time to rebuild/continue building my layout and make it truly operational (hopefully by xmas) (also beings I'm not surrounded by a train/work environment) Also have some interested plastic car model projects, including a metal 1/8 scale Ferarri Testarossa engine. Also have a kitchen to gut and and reno. gotta go and hang out at the LHS. I get to live like Pete..for the winter anyways. B-)

Re: The Daily Moose

Got my batch of beer bottled. Also bottled 2 batches of wine earlier in the week. I bought 4 bottles of Australian wine yesterday and drank one already. Filled the gas tank to the tune of $54.00! It keeps going up. Put legs on the tree layout and am planning on getting it upstairs soon with help. It will now be 14" off the floor and easier to see. We now have a smaller tree that I cut down from the old 7' one. This one is about 5' tall now. Looks like we will have Christmas after all. I have two buildings to wire in this year which will take no time at all to do. I plan on making some special breads this weekend for the season and for Kim to take to work for snacks in the office. Maybe I'll make some beer bread too. That was good last time. Did I mention that I bought some wine..... ;-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 12/14/2010 4:18 AM PST

Re: The Daily Moose

Did a family outing to cinema today. Saw UNSTOPPABLE. Great flick. Everyone enjoyed it (even if they aren't train freak like me) Highly recommend it. Googled the true story that the movie was inspired from. which is interesting enough known as Crazy Eights (CSX8888) Even though the movie depicted the destructive side of railroading, it still motivated me to work on my layout so I can run trains. :) -- Edited by dl85vette at 12/19/2010 5:26 PM PST

Re: The Daily Moose

I checked the trailer on google, looks great, it would be devastating to be involved with something like that in real life, I know it is based on fact but not quite that factual. ]:)

Re: The Daily Moose

I saw the movie yesterday, those exploding derails were impressive, some very impressive track scenery, would make a great model rail road, I thought it was brilliant. ]:)

Re: The Daily Moose

History was made yesterday......Kimmers retired!!! We are home today trying to recover from too much food and drink last night....URP! Now that she will be under foot 24/7 I believe I'll be spending a lot more time over at my buddy George's. By the way that was her idea of a fun birthday present for me......to retire on my birthday. Payback is hell and hers is coming up.....hee, hee, hee ]:)

Re: The Daily Moose

got one room piled up with boxes of cabinet kits, and a built in dishwasher in its shipping box sitting in the living room. House is starting to look like Home Depot. They got cabinets on sale again (15% off) so gotta go in tomorrow and buy a couple more cabinets I need fr my kitchen reno. Have a friend of a friend electrician coming Monday to see what I want done. :) Taking the winter to do my long awaited, much needed kitchen reno (plus work on my aircraft maintenance license) ;) -- Edited by dl85vette at 01/15/2011 6:31 PM PST

Re: The Daily Moose

While tearing out cabinets, prybar went thru the wall. I took the hammer and took a swing and left hole. woohoo. The kitchen has 2 layers of thin sheetrock and not plaster. I was dreading hammering out plaster, lattice and strapping. This will make my life quicker and easier. Still dirty and dusty job though. Kitchen now looks like the taliban visited. -- Edited by dl85vette at 01/26/2011 4:29 PM PST
