Sound for your pike

If you have been wanting sound for various locations on your pike or a sound card that travels on your consist try this site on for size. Read all the various pages they have here especially the APPS page and listen to all the various sound boards you can get. They also show all the various ways of utilizing the different boards from DCC-track power or the small transformer they supply or a 9 volt battery. It could get expensive if you wanted ten or twenty sounds but one or two would be fair and then add on later as required. http://www.ittsound.com/ Enjoy their sound page Jack

Jack, it won't be long and us N scalers will have sound every bit as nice as the folks in the larger scales and we won't have to have the speakers scattered around under the layout. prof

Jack, The Honky Tonk sounds just might work for Wicked Wanda's when I get her built. They really didn't specify what size speaker to use for what application. I guess it depends on the space you have available. I could just hear my layout with 4 engines belching sounds and these other stationary sounds going off. Who would need scenery then? Add a little annimation and we are back to Lionel or American Flyer toy train layouts. B-)

Just a quick note. I notice that the latest BLI (Broadway Limited Inc.) ads state their new releases are either with or without sound. Seems that some people do not like the sound that is available. Especially in HO. Frankly, at times, with 4 engines going it can become a bit overpowering. However, there is a function that allows you turn off the sound if so desired. Once in a great while I do turn off the sound of one or two locos if they are all running, but, it doesn't last long. It seems funny after a bit to see the trains moving and not hear anything. So back comes the sound. I guess I'm hooked. But I would strongly suggest to anyone who installs sound of any kind to their layout to use a low volume. The cacophony of too much sound will eventually get you unless it is soft and mellow. Marc will call it moving air. My opinion is that to much of it can become a hurricane. And no, I have never had any desire, no matter what state of drunkenness I was in, to place my head inside a 1000 watt speaker. As a matter of fact, sub-woofers drive me nuts. And so do sopranos who do nothing but screech. I believe that is why I find the On30 sound produced by QSI and Soundtraxx pleasing. Middle tones. It is all about your personal preference in this hobby, and that is why there is so much to choose from. Model railroading is FUN!!!!! B-)

I just kind of purse my lips and go, "BRRRMMMP BRRRRRMMMP" as the loco goes by. Sometimes I even go, "ding-ding-ding-ding"............ Mr. Breeze ;)

Marc, How do you differentiate the sound of an EMD diesel from an ALCO? B-)

.....UM, I use the "speaker at the other end" for the ALCO. Gives the big PA1 a deeper, more robust sound!! :O ]:) Mr. Breeze :D

Yes, but I would be curious as to how it gets the ding ding ding with bodily function. Well again maybe not, and I hope he never runs more than two trains at once. LNF
