Progress report #2

I locked the other thread. There is some good stuff in there that probably has been reposted in other threads. I'll check. In the meantime, here's another place to write. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

Hi all. Surgery very successful and I now have no back pain. Can't work just yet on my layout because I have to were a full body harness which restricts my movement, very hard to bend. Will have to were it for two more months. Right now I am trying to learn how to program engine speeds so I can try and MU some engines. Out of all the engines I have not even two run close to each other. Will be reading the threads to catch up. Chuck SmileyCentral.com

Re: Progress report #2

Glad to hear your well Chuck, so what op did you have, the docs want me to submit to a spinal scrape to remove some of the calcium build up, they say I would be able to move easier but I'm chicken, they still don't give me good odds of being able to walk after the op. ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

Great news Chuck. Don't rush the healing process. Barry, I could tell you a horror story about my old architect partner and his spinal scrape. Lets just say he misses playing golf now. He did learn how to walk again though. After a year of rehab he can bend enough to drive a car again. Do your research and get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Messing with the spinal column is always risky. I know you can't drink (always a fun cure for pain), so how about drugs (prescribed of course ;-)....)? Dave you have been busy. I of course loved the pictures of the PDC. Is that a tourist road near you? I'll have to google it. BTW, your hopper needs a wash job..... ]:) -- Edited by ginzokid at 09/07/2009 2:54 AM PDT

Re: Progress report #2

When I first did all the damage to my back in 1984 the ortho I went to gave me 1 chance in 10 of being able to walk after any op I would have( I have spinal spurs going through my scyatic nerves and if that gets damaged, cripple)I said at the time if I left it could I walk my daughters down the aisle (1 was 14 the other was 9)and the doc said probably, both were married and I walked them down the aisle, now the ortho wants to have a go again, no thank you, my left leg gives out and my back aches all the time, but hey, I walk LOL, the drugs I used to take helped but destroyed my duadenal cap so now I suffer with indigestion constantly(fun, not)and alchahol upsets my stomach, what I really need is a lead injection LOL ]:) LEAD? Sounds more like you need some silicone.....you know. That slippery stuff. Seriously, I have spurs in my left shoulder that the Dr. injects with cortizone to break them up every so often. Wounder if something like that would help you. Getting old ain't for the faint of heart. B-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 09/07/2009 7:40 AM PDT

Re: Progress report #2

http://www.pdcrailway.com/ address for PDC. They have the the high Hood GP done in old CN livery too. It is a tourist train but to make extra money, they are getting into railcar storage business. You lucky dog you. Wish I had something that nice near me. -- Edited by ginzokid at 09/07/2009 7:35 AM PDT

Re: Progress report #2

Finished doing the decals on my cement hoppers. (light orange decals ordered from M/S ended up with wrong sheet- dayglo orange., picked up orange and a red sheet of trim film from LHS, both were crap, disintegrating around edges...again. went thru my decal box and found a sheet of blue trim film which laid nicely.) posted in trainspot folder is one of my 3 hoppers decaled for the cement plant.

Re: Progress report #2

Chuck, great stuff! Barry, my wife's Dad had some spinal injection procedure to fix things and they messed something up. He could walk but could not raise the front of his foot any more, and some other stuff. I don't recommend excessive mineral supplements of lead either! Oh well, Charles

Re: Progress report #2

Maybe this is some progress on the 1:1 trains: http://cid-e11b13ec6107fb9b.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!E11B13EC6107FB9B!391.entry?&_c02_vws=1 We were helping clear trees and brush for charitable benefit as I discuss in the blog photo essay. It even has a video (my first YouTube attempt) of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad train going by. Have fun, Charles

Re: Progress report #2

We count the train as one of our blessings, for sure. My hopes for everyone for blessings and joy in life beyond all our troubles. Today as well with all the memorials for 9-11. There are so many sad power hungry politicos that will even pretend the terrorists of 9-11 don't really exist, while our own soldiers are dieing to buy our freedom for us with their blood. All the best, Charles

Re: Progress report #2

The tree layout is history! Kim and I totally dismantled it today. Gone! Now I'm waiting for Walthers to deliver the new all foam layout. I'm thinking about making it an actual winter layout. Lots of white plaster and no need for green stuff. Hey, it's a thought. Any ideas from you idiots would be appreciated. B-)
