My new N scale Shay should be here soon. I think that June is the Canadian F7 release also. B-)

Re: New purchases #2

Did it! Bought a new car. A Mazda2 GX 5 door. Going to cancel the Chevy Sonic. Probably will lose my deposit though. Don't much car really. Got a much better deal including free snow tires and a better trade in value. It's a deep metalic red.

Re: New purchases #2

Mazda built on a Ford chasis? I didn't know. I have owned more Fords than any other brand. Funny, but I looked at the Fiesta and Focus and didn't like them. Are you sure the Mazda is a Ford in disguise?

Re: New purchases #2

Barry speaketh the truth. mazda is owned by ford.  Ever look at a Ford ranger and a Mazda pickup truck years back?  same vehicle,

Ford Probe? (when they made them)  From the door handles forward was a mazda RX-whatever.  I'm serious.

Hell my Bronco 2 had a mitsubishi transmission.

Early 90's Dodge Ram trucks had brake components by Delphi......parts division under GM.

Your 86 vette had a logo on driver/pass windows saying "LOF"      Libby of Ford.   (Ford's glass manufacturing division)

rear glass hatch made by PPG.

Aussi brand Holden is GM subsiduary.   Howver I wouldn't complain having a Holden Vectra VXR Abarth edition here in the peg.

Pete will be pushing all his cars off the warf from feeling so filthy and tainted and betrayed by the auto makers.

Safe bets are jaguar, Aston Martin. Ferarri. Citreon, BMW, Merc.

Re: New purchases #2

Not really disappointed. I knew that Ford and Mazda were working together on some things. And of course we all know that Buick is just a Cadillac in disguise. What surprises me is that fact that I did not like the small Fords and yet this car is basically a Fiesta. I really like this car folks and will not be pushing it off any cliffs soon.

Anything special going on for Father's Day? I didn't even get a card or phone call. Not even from the dog! The weather is finally nice today but I can't go out because of the flies. So I'll just stay in the dungeon (man cave?) today.

Re: New purchases #2

anyway, do we get a photo? I know lots of people who love Fiestas, too small for my comfort though, but they are very fuel savvy, hope the Mazda is too, probably will be, virtually the same car.

Re: New purchases #2

tank of gas will probably last you a month.  which is a good thing as I don't have a good feeling about this summer for gas prices with way things havae been lately for prices.

Re: New purchases #2

I just gave it the first wash. Ever heard of a Kozak cloth? The auto delaers use them in their show rooms to keep the dust off the cars. It is a treated cloth that can be used to remove dried on dirt and dust without harming the paint. It has some chemical cleaner and polish in it and will not scratch the surface. They also have a wet cloth but I have found that it is not as effective as the dry cloth. I just took off the road dirt, rain spots and dust in about ten minutes. Sure beats soap, water and chamois.

Re: New purchases #2

Hello,

I got one of these:

20140710_230720 - Copy.jpg

20140710_230806 - Copy.jpg

This is a Bowser Gla 2-bay hopper.  It is similar to steel hoppers used by the Cumberland & Pennsylvania railroad before they departed the scene.  I can compare this with similar MT hoppers.  These are hard to find, I guess they have been out of production for a while.

All the best,

Charles

Re: New purchases #2

Too bad that they're OOP, but I'm sure you'll get your hands on some more evventually. Are you any good at resin casting? One way to build a fleet.

Re: New purchases #2

Been putting this off forever so beings I'm taking a photo-filled trip, good time as any to buy a tripod. Picked one up at Radio Shack on sale for like $26,  reg $39. Seemed good enuf for me. I don't feel like shelling out 60-150 for one.

Leaving my scanner and 5 ft antenna home. saves the aggrevation at border and no idea about legality in some states. Also some BNSF lines that I'm driving beside have defect detectors that only transmit when there is a problem. So no point in that.

CN and CP detectors here transmit the following even when no defects;

"XXX sub, X degrees, speed X mph, axles XXX, no alarms"

3.5 days of work to get thru.

Re: New purchases #2

Going shopping today for a small TV to put in to the dungeon. That way I can work on layout and catch my football games too. Chief Financial Officer actually gave me the go ahead for the purchase. She must want something.

Re: New purchases #2

would be a fair indication she doesn't want to watch football any more LOL or there is something better at that time that she wants to watch.
