Moving to Canada

So what do you guys think about all the talk south of the border of Americans moving to Canada if Trump is elected? Seems that George Clooney, Whoopie Goldberg, Al Sharpton and others say they will leave the US if he is elected. Well who cares? I have seen several You Tube skits made by Canadians that all seem to say no, we don't want you up here. Being a dual citizen myself, I am totally ashamed of the goings on down there. I don't vote down there any more but if I could I would check off the box that says "none of the above". I know there is no such choice, but there should be. I am amazed that these people have no loyalty to their country. Do they really think that Canada is a much better place to live? They never say why. So without getting in to the idologies of any particular candidate, what do you think about the circus and the jumping off the ship?

I think the Canadians should build a wall and make Trump pay for it.

1. People like Cloony, etc...how much time do they even live in the states to begins with?

2. Regardless of their money, they still gotta go through the immigration process.

3. As soon as they see the cost of gas, groceries, taxes, etc they'll be running back south.

with that said, I don't understand US politics whatsoever. up here you vote for the party in your district, then the most votes determines the PM from each perspective party. US is weird, seems like you got couple of people running for the same party.

I don't know anything about trump, even what I thought I knew about his business side, I thought wrong on that too. All I know is I don't want to see that twat clinton as pres. Between her and trudeau, they'll ruin north america.  She shoulda been fired after her f**k up with bengazi.

with our twit trudeau, I'm waiting for something like brussels to happen here. IT IS already here, just on a smaller scale. 1 year ago 2 soldiers hit by car, another standing guard at ottawa cenotaph shot/killed. last week 2 military at recruiting center slashed with knfe form some goat-f*cker.

Canada's loss would be our gain as they say....  I doubt any of them will actually leave.  A couple of the ding-a-lings promised to leave if Bush got elected, no such luck, they stayed.  Bummer.

Trump has a lot of voter support (I would vote for him), he is hated by the political democrats and country club republicans (or establishment republicans as they get called) whom all enjoy what they skim from the extra trillions of debt they have helped Obama rack up.  (What, has he added 16 trillion debt in his seven years? whatever...)  A lot of voters are happy to vote for someone who does not sound like the political democrats and country club republicans.

Obama and the democrats have brought us closer to world war three than any republican "hawk" with nukes.  Besides rampant racism, increasing social divides,  socialist greed, destruction of jobs, devastation of middle class wealth, whatever.  My, how I have rambled on.  Sorry.

But, I suspect not to worry, if as already posted, if they actually do go north, they will not be staying.  Oh well...

All the best,

Charles

How to explain the US system of elections would take a book to make it clear to Canadians. But I'll try.

1. Each party has multiple persons running for the top spot. He who gets the most delegates usually wins the nomination of that party and will run for the office being contested.

2. Each state has a certain number of delegates determined by the populatin of that state. Primaries or caucuses are held and the people vote for their choice. The delegates are doled out according to the popular vote in each state.

3. It takes a certain number of delegates to become the party candidate and this is determined at the national convention of each party. Delegates are supposed to be held to vote for the person they were to represent on the first ballot. After that they are free to vote for someone else. (Stupid isn't it so far. It gets worse.)

4. If one candidated does not get the required number of votes on the first ballot, then the bargaining and back room deals take place. It is possible for someone to be chosen as the party candidate who has not received the highest number of popular votes by the people of each state. (Told you it gets worse.)

5. OK. We have a candidate who gets the most delegates from each party convention and they run against each other for the office. The people vote again in the general election and now each state sends members of "the electoral college" to Washington to cast their ballots to elect the supposed popular vote winner. But wait. Again the electoral college is population based and the elected person can lose the popular vote and still be elected to the office.

6. And worst of all, the electoral college is not bound to vote for the candidate they are supposed to represent. Some say the college is outdated and the office should be just down to the popular vote. So here is where the real backroom deals are made. Here is where the money speaks and the popular vote means nothing.

We all remember just how many absentee ballots were never counted for Obama's election, that military ballots from overseas were never counted and a whole bunch of dead people voted in Florida and Ilinois, some even voted twice. The US system is supposed to be democratic, but it is rife with places for fraud and manipulation.

Now I may not have explained it all correctly or easily understandable, but you can see why only the rich can become President. It takes money.

Moving to Canada

I have a friend who has moved to Kelowna, BC from the US. He is retiring to the area and has landed immigrant status. He is now in the process of trying to get permanent residence status and has found that the process is long and expensive. He recently attended a class given to those trying to get in to Canada permanently and this class had several orientals, a couple of Syrians and one other American. One thing he noticed was that all of them were in western dress with no hint of a former dress code like hijabs or other items of cultural clothing. Looks like this group at least will try to assimilate. There is hope yet unlike the US.

More on the liberal flight.....

From a news article I read, a new dating web site that says:

"Maple Match makes it easy for Americans to find the ideal Canadian partner to save them from the unfathomable horror of a Trump presidency," the website advertises to visitors."

I still doubt anyone will leave for real....  The only substance those celebraties have is the plastic film they are printed on, if they happen to appear on a film copy (instead of digital) of one of their performances.   Smiley LOL   (or somnething like that)

All the best,

Charles

Did anyone else see the Trudeau dust-up? Shows just how little he knows about self control and proper behavior, let alone the rules of the house of commons. The opposition had said he was not ready for the job. Clearly his loss of temper and decorum bear out this statement. He did not show any form of leadership, just the attitude of a spoiled little brat. Maybe he was under the influence of that marijuana he so proudly endorses for legalization.

Yea I saw the turd on news at lunchtime. I don't know if it was just an accident or if it is just the media blowing it oout of proportion. I find the whole works of them in parliament act like a bunch of kids when they debate and question each other.  said before and I'll say it agian, I have no confidence in trudeau making canada a better country in any aspect. especially in the fiscal and oil industry areas. I think he is useless. he's more involved taking frikken selfies of himself while meeting leaders in other countries.  He'll turn us into Germany soon enough.

And did you see his apology? He says "uh" about 100 times per minute, just like his hero south of the border. Neither one of them can put a whole sentence together. He studied under the same advisers that shit head used while campaigning. No wonder he sounds like a white version of the worst US president ever. Trump will be a refreshing change.

Sure is funny how we have ended up with these dingbats for leaders.  I was just looking at a web site:

http://wvncrails.weebly.com/lincoln-funeral-train-commemorative.html

With Lincoln funeral train stuff and a 2015 reenactment, and this is how he was described along with his fancy railcar used for it:

"The Lincoln funeral car is a masterpiece inside and out. An amazing replication of the actual car and the attention to detail attests to the outstanding craftsmanship. Dan Robie 2015

Built for Lincoln in life during his Presidency, it was the epitome of 1860s rail travel. Beautifully ornate for the Chief Executive, it was luxury on wheels. But the modest and austere side of Lincoln shunned it and he never once traveled in it during his term. It is then ironic that Lincoln, in context of character, would be immersed with opulence in death. The railcar and the omnipresence of a lavish funeral tour likely would have appalled him had he known."

Our leaders, what a sad excuse pretending to be progress.

All the best,
Charles

Now that Trump has the required number of delegates, there will be no need for a convention fight. He will be the official nominee of the Republican Party and they better get behind their man or the witch might win.

Here comes the total mud slinging, dirty tricks campaign that will never touch on the real issues. The media will spark racial unrest of course. Anything to make news, which they do instead of actually reporting it.

Will Canada have another influx of undesirable refugees? This time from our nearest neighbors?

Let the games begin!

Wow! What a tragedy in Orlando. Even though I myself am a life member of the NRA and have owned many types of guns in my life, I can not fathom how this guy, who was once on the FBI watch list, could so easily acquire a license to purchase his guns. I hate to mention that he does fit the profile that we are not suppose to use, but in reality, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. It appears that all these types of attacks in the US have been perpetrated by young Muslim men. Not black. Not Hispanics. Not white or Chinese either. Forget PC. The pattern is established and we as a society must accept that fact.

Now the anti-gunners will be out in full force again. Hillary will be in her glory. She will trash Trump at every turn especially since he was endorsed by the NRA. The old guard of the GOP, who are afraid of their own shadows, will not help Trump which is too bad. The GOP must rally behind him or the US will face another 4 or 8 years of corrupt Democratic power. This will be a very dirty campaign. Typical of late in the US. Is it any wonder that we moved to Canada?

As a Canadian citizen I could take the firearms safety course at the local college and acquire a gun or two, but I do not feel the need for that here yet. I did have an arsenal in the US, as I said, out of a feeling of need for personal protection. The threat of bodily harm from strangers is not so prevalent here. Most of us do not have guns except for those who like to get their moose each year. Maybe Canada is the place to come after all just for peace. It is interesting to hear Canadians speak of the entire US as having a "wild west" attitude. Maybe they are right. Maybe we should build a wall on the 49th parallel.

Welcome to Canada
