There sure is some big stuff moved by rail, with the width of some of that stuff could you imagine standing at a station and not be watching how close you were to the tracks, or don't you guys use the same tracks as passenger trains. ]:)

Hate to go thru a pay toll where it is $1 for cars $2 for trucks and $1 for additional axles.

Who said anything about fitting? 😉 It would literally go "through" the toll booth all right. Todays funny caption would be "Pete finally found a steamer that meets his exacting specifications for his new garden layout".

I've seen bigger stuff moved on our roads but there is no way it could go on any of our freeways or tollways all the bridges were built to low to the road surface, dumb planners I guess, one transformer weighed over 400 ton and used 6 prime movers to drag it and 4 to push it and it covered 3 lanes of road as well took 5 weeks to move it 1,600 Klms, the RTA closed one hill for 8 hours just so it could get up it, I just don't know why the loco wasn't moved by rail, it has wheels after all. ]:)

You guys got some wicked road trains down there too Barry. Nothing like a Kenworth with 3 40' tandam-axle trailers. Plus a rugged Kangaroo cage to boot. Did you look all thru the site Barry? Lots of great and interesting loads. a fractioning tower would be easy to model and neat to haul. If one is right into the operations, you can do like their ruling, locos plus couple ballast cars and then empty flats for swinging room of tower. crawl at slow speed, block the main fro all other trains,etc..

I went through the middle of road train territory early last year but my camera was in the trunk, saw a few parked that would have been great pics too, remembered to keep the camera in the car on the way back but alas not a trailer to be seen. The most common transport here now is a Bdouble, two trailers but not on a dolly set up, the front trailer has an extension and the second attaches to that, I will try and get a photo so you can see, they look amazing and are a lot easier to drive than you think I did check the site and some amazing loads for sure, my humble layout wouldn't do them justice and the club is usually just big through trains, there is the occasional working day but it is usually on a public holiday and I am too far away for a one day run. One of the members bought one of those huge brass heavy haulage flat car set ups, it looks great but nearly $1,000 for an N scale car is out of my pocket range. ]:)

By kangaroo cage do you mean the roo bar on the front of the rig, depends on the part of the country you drive in, roo bar, bull bar, pedestrian maimer, take your pick. ]:)
