I'm looking for a Kato SD40 or SD40-2 body with dynamic brake blister, I only need the long and short hoods no walkway or cab, maybe some one has a damaged shell or a project that came to a stand still, any help will be greatly appreciated. ]:)

a trainspotter will go out of his way to slow down in order to get stuck at the crossing. I can attest to that 😉

Has anyone seen this ductwork before on the hood of the engine? Anyone have a clue what is is for? I haven't seem to find an answer. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=137755

Can't help you on that one, I have seen them before, probably air induction for the turbo or something along those lines. ]:)

Air induction for the turbo and "clean air" as this arrangement is for locos that travel through tunnels. Wouldn't want to suck in that diesel exhaust from the top of the engines blocked by the roof of the tunnel now would we. Similar arrangement for the Vette and the ground intake under the front. Right Dave? B-)

correct you are vette-fadda. Tanks for the nswer. I've seen the hood type on the CN locos for guarding against snow but it is different than than ductwork.

I'm looking for more decals again, I need either a full or part 60-710 Alberta grain car sheet, I have checked the website and they have 330 in stock but none of the hobby shops here have any and where I usually order my decals from don't look like having enough orders this side of Christmas, the last order they placed was for my CP decals in early June and so far the only order placed to date is the one I placed for the Alberta cars this morning, can anyone help me please, I'm desperate. ]:) -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 09/08/2008 6:51 PM PDT

Barry, Walthers has them in stock @ $5.75 per set. You want to order them or want me to do it for you? How many do you need? B-)

Pete If you don't mind then you could order them for me, Walthers post to me is over $20, for international they put a minimum post rate on but if I bought a few things it is still the same rate, I just don't need a heap of stuff at this time, I only need one set as I am just converting one car at this time, thanks for the help. ]:)

I have a question for Chuck, do you remember where you got those magnetic light switches you got me a couple years back, I need three desperately, I have tried the glass tube type but they constantly need a magnet beside them to make them work, the ones you got are perfect, does anyone else have any ideas, even if I can get the manufacturers name would help, of course if you have some and can sell them, I'm very interested, I have even thought about the easy peasy light kits that M/T are advertising but alas no one here has them and I can't find them on the net HELP please. ]:) I have been able to find the Rapido Easy Peasy kits through net stores but once again the post to me kills it, they list for $8.95 most have them for less than $8 but with $20 - $40 for post to me makes them an expensive experiment,I only want to try 1 for the time being, again can anyone help, I could paypal later this week if possible. ]: -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 12/31/2010 4:30 PM PST -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 12/31/2010 4:31 PM PST

I found this in a post by Chuck. "If you find any other place that sells CR1220 battery holders please list the wed site. I got my holders today and realy do not like the design of them. Wish I could find the white ones used by the people at Gator Works who make the FRED cars." I did a search here for magnetic switches and came up with a discussion thread. Take a look for yourself. Not sure if you want batteries, holders or reed switches themselves. The info should be here and there is also a picture of Chuck's installation in the photo albums by Chuck. Walthers has the easy peezy lights. B-)

Help please

I don't need batteries or holders just the switches, I got some from Chuck when he found them before, I can't find them anywhere on the web as I don't know the brand or manufacturer, that is why I thought about the easy peasy set up, if I had one I could check if I could dismantle it and use the switch from it, I have the glass tube type reed switch but they need a constant magnetic field to stay connected, the other ones just switch on or off by the magnet passing over them. I know Walthers has them so does MBKLEIN, BLW and Nscale supply and possibly others but again I have the expensive post to me and some places don't ship international. I also thought about ebay and can find plenty of the replacement batteries listed but no light units, either really popular or not available as easy as the web site says ]:) -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 01/02/2011 4:44 PM PST -- Edited by barrysfp45 at 01/02/2011 4:49 PM PST
