As most of you have probably heard , ebay has had another lay off, of 1,000 employees. I have been in contact with maeve, she said it is ok for me to mention this in my groups. Maeve is one of the 1,000 that will be leaving ebay. Her last day with ebay is Oct. 17th, she does not know what will become of groups, but said it is ok to mention that she will not be with ebay after Oct. 17th What this means we don't know as yet since the groups are run by Live World. My concern is that Maeve was very groups oriented and did a lot to make them usefull to all of us. We will just have to wait until ebay tells us what is happening. If the groups are still a viable part of ebay, I personally hope they find someone who is not being "downsized" and really cares to keep this forum alive. We may have to find another way to communicate. Be prepared guys. Should we start a Yahoo group to replace OG? It won't be the same though since we often refer to ebay auctions in our posts. Think about it and let me know how you want to proceed. We can always cut and paste stuff from ebay into a Yahoo discussion, I think. Any help here would be appreciated. B-)

Weren't we in this position before and I had made up a backup site?? Just have to cut and paste the link for auctions as far that part is concerned. I'd be afraid to know much stuff there is to cut and paste as far as conversations/tips/info,etc. Maybe hold off until we get an eviction notice Pete.

If I remember a while back someone started a Yahoo group and I think 2 or 3 of us joined it. our-rr-group. Chuck

What ever you guys come up with let me know as I would like to be part of it. Do to computer problems and the current financial situation I don't get on ebay as much but can check email a little more often. Pete I believe you already have my email address. Just did a search in Yahoo for the group and it is gone. If you think we might have to move I will be glad to assist anyone who wants to make a group at Yahoo. I typed in "Model RR is fun" and it is open for a group name at this time. Chuck

I actually visit eight railroad related yahoo groups they seem to work OK. Some of the sites are pretty quiet so it does not take as much time as it could. I have opened a Yahoo Group in case we need it. http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/Modelrrisfun I haven't posted anything yet and probably won't until we definitely lose this forum. OK with everyone? perhaps it will be easier to post pics on yahoo. my trial ran out on ACDSee so I can't resize pics and they keep getting alerts from ebay saying size too big so that is why I haven't posted pics in a looong time.
