Update or stop using ebay

Hi there. Today I got a message saying I must update my app or exit. I spend most of my time buying things using my app (haven't used a PC for eBay in a very long time) but now that you are making it an update or stop using eBay I am probably going to stop using eBay except for occasional uses instead of every day.

You are probably thinking I should update but the problem with that is it will not let me update it with my current ios (which I will definetly not be updating) so it looks like you are going to be losing out on a lot of money by trying to make people update. I would suggest you might want to allow the older versions to continue working on older ios's. You definetly need to sort this out as I have used ebay daily via the app for years and that is going to come to end (which is very sad but will be what happens).

I agree, they should have left the old app alone and made a new one for the newer devices.

i can NOT update and I can NOT use eBay apps ANYMORE !!

Thank you for the posts. If you are unable to get the latest apps because of the operating system on the device we recommend using the eBay website with the Safari browser.

I could use your website through safari but why should I have too? The app was excellent, using safari on your mobile friendly site is awful. It's not even close to the standard of the app and when I spend hours browsing for things I don't want to be thinking of how awful it is, I want to be thinking of all the cool things I could be buying. That's not even metuoning the fact that it would mean having to log in every time I wanted to check something.

It's just a heads up. If you try and make people update when they are happy with their current version you are just going to lose customers and money. I will be disappointed at first but will end up finding somewhere else to spend my money. It's your choice.

I have no idea what browser my phone has, but I'm not going to install a new one just to visit the Ebay site.

You should listen to your buyers and sellers and let us use the older app on our older devices.

This seriously is an awful move so many people refuse to update their phones or ios litterally every app i use still works why would this change please fix it theres no reason the current version i have dont work i used it earlier today now this what are you doing ???

Thanks for the posts. If your device is unable to get the latest eBay app we recommend using the website on the mobile browser of your choice.

This is not about getting the latest app this is about leaving older apps able to be used using the browser is not a vible solution to this problem when theres a perfectly fine working app that was good to use a few days ago a better solution would be  "contact your IT department and get them to fix the issue" this cant be that big of a deal to fix really use your browser is not a good answer

I AGREE USING, THE BROWSER IS NOT A OPTION.  I GUESS EBAY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ITS USERS!!

This is a foolish move by eBay. The app appears to load in the background, but cannot be accessed due to the "Upgrade" notification. eBay should remove the notification so we can continue using what appears to be a perfectly functioning app. I don't need the eBay app to tell be to upgrade. The app store handles that, and it knows what apps will actually work with my version of iOS.

Remove the upgrade notification please eBay!

Coincidence? I’ve had no sales since the app update and item views have not changed much. Did this change also affect other operating systems or just ios?
