Most of us are shocked when something is good and then a new version comes out that takes away something that was good. I started using the eBay mobile app in 2014, extensively in 2015, I was one of the beta test users, they let me continue to use that with Android 4.4 until suddenly turning it off during the coronavirus lockdown which was a very stupid move compounding a lot of other very stupid moves that eBay made during the coronavirus lockdown.
I had to purchase a new phone just to use this one app. And I did. I have downloaded the newest version. When I look at my own eBay listings which are typically more than 100 listings, sometimes more than a hundred and fifty, one of the reasons I'm looking is to see what is ending soon so I can decide if I'm going to suddenly lower the price for a little while or take it off eBay. Therefore I like it to be the way it always was in the old version of the app, the ones that are ending first appear at the top of the page. But with the new one, the new listings appear at the top of the page. I click on sort and I change it back. But every single time I look at it I have to click on sort to change it. This is a lot of repetitive nonsense I shouldn't have to do. Again this was never a problem 6 years ago.
Further, this is such a wasteful app. I used to be able to look at search returns when I was looking to buy an item or look at my own listings and take screenshots of five or six items at least in one page. Now I can't see more than two items on the page at one time because they have a thousand acres of empty white space between every letter and every line of text and every item. This is stupid. The View could be compressed about 70 or 80% from what it is now. People don't want to see white space. They want to see the items wall-to-wall edge-to-edge.
And while I am here, I might as well mention, eBay canceling phone support during the lockdown and lying about it is one of the dirtiest things I have seen a business do in my time in business. This had nothing to do with the law. This has to do with eBay taking customer support worker money and putting it in their own pocket. 19 out of 20 calls I have made to eBay customer support in the last seven years have gone to the Philippines. Governor gruesome is not the governor of the Philippines. His order here is illegal and he has no influence over the Philippines. My calls to Capital One call centers in the Philippines never stopped during the virus lockdown. Never. But eBay said we don't have phone support now because we're following the laws! This is a flat lie. All cases against sellers were being closed by bots in favor of the buyer making the claim.
