Search within categories broken!

iOS 16.4.1 on iPhone Xs. Ebay app version 6.110.0.4111

This new version does not let you search within a category. I start at the home page, pick categories, drill down to toys & hobbies, models and kits, automotive and then select "see all results". The search box say "search within automotive" but when you do, it searches all categories. Very frustrating!

Try searching using keywords, then change the category as necessary.

If you want to browse the entire category, try searching using the category name as your keywords.

If you are not using keywords, you are not searching; you are just browsing.

It always let you search within the category before. It even says "search within .  . ."  It just stopped with this version.

This isn’t helpful.  I’m searching buttons housedress and housedress buttons and a few other variations.   That is the name of the type of button.  All I’m getting is house dresses.   I can change the category within the original broader overarching category that eBay decided I needed, but I cannot seem to back up to see the full list of categories available.

Your issue is not related to the original poster's, which may explain why my previous suggestion to that poster is not particularly relevant in your own case.

Possibly your housedress buttons search is finding buttoned housedress results due to a keyword substitution.

If you suspect an unwanted keyword substitution is causing search problems, putting one of your keywords in quotes should prevent any substitutions and provide only literal matches for each of your keywords.
