Hello All,
The behavior for saved searches has changed, apparently with the January 13 update of the Android app.
Here's the problem: I have my saved searches filtered to a specific category. Previously, I'd only get the little blue dot next to the searches that had any new items in that category. Perfect, works great. But now if there are no new items in the desired category, but there are new items matching the search keywords in ANY category, I get the little blue dot next to that search. So when I tap on the search, I get tons of listings that are of no interest to me.
Has anybody else noticed this change in behavior? I really hope eBay will restore the "little blue dot" so it works as before. Thanks!

Yes, I am having this problem and it is driving me insane. Ebay is now unusable in the way I use it and years of saved searches are pointless. Incredibly frustrated!

I have not updated the app itself, and have found the same/similar problem. All the preselected categories in saved searches are no longer applied to new results in a the same way they were - and properly working - just days ago. They often show as "0 results, in ABC category, so searched in all categories instead." Wasting my time and bandwidth on utterly useless nonsense is not helpful.
Apparently the dev team managers have decided that make-work code changes at the server level are more important, than to leave well enough alone and insist their coders should monkey around with an app that has finally started to work as it should for all the core functions.
By all means devs... When I'm searching for raspberry pi compute boards, send me saved search results for china fruit bowls and screen printed grocerie bags! Makes perfect sense to me...?!?!

Same problem here. Scrolling up and down my saved searches list I can see blue dots coming to all saved searched. Very frustrating and I can not use application because I try find only very specific collector items. Not common car parts, tools or clothes around the world.

Yes...Have contacted Ebay support 3 times about it already. They are acting like it's the first they've heard about it so if everyone keeps calling in and complaining every day hopefully they will change it back. Don't give up! Apparently "Saved Searches" no longer is available for Categories or Sub Categories on either the app or the regular website. You must include a keyword, which is ridiculously stupid. Removing the "Save this search" has zero effect on ebay and only effects the buyers who have set up their buying patterns based on how ebay has been for the past 20 some years. I save categories to my desired view so I don't have to go into the category section every time I want to look for things to buy and have to change it to "newly listed" and 'Buy It Now" every time I search....200 times a day.

Oh...and it's not just on Android...it's an issue on the regular PC site too.

Try using the name of the category as your search keyword(s).

Kind of kills the point of 'saved searches' doesn't it? The whole point is to save time so you don't have to type in a keyword or reset it to 'buy it now' or 'newly listed' every time you do a search.
What good does it do ebay to remove the option? They continue to make life harder for buyers. Only way to fix it is to call them until they change it back...repeatedly!

The point of saved searches is to save searches. Searches have keywords.
If you just want to browse a category, bookmark the category page after setting up the sort and format you prefer.
If you want all your searches to sort newly listed by default, set your search customization settings on the search results page using the menu at the top where you can choose between List or Gallery view.

Because it was simple before...why take away the simplicity. I had everything I searched for on my app all on one page. I could sit there for an hour and scroll my 'saved searches' over and over again...which is the point of the whole thing. Bouncing around all over the place takes time. The faster I can go through my saved searches the better.
And if you go through the other recent topics that relate to the same issue "saved searches', you'll see other issues that seem to be connected to the change. In your 'saved searches', the blue dot lets you know when a new item has been listed. When you opened it up you would see stuff related to your search. Now the blue dot pops up and it says "0 results, but here are some other items related to your search in other categories". That's another waste of everyone's time and kills the point of saved searches.
It's a simple solution, change it back. Don't put up with Ebay's **bleep** and accept changes that effect how we buy.

Hi all! I've passed this feedback on about search filters and saved searches acting wonky and they're taking a closer look. Thank you for the heads up!

Thanks Velvet!
Very WONKY!

Thanks again Velvet! Looks like Ebay fixed the issue on both the saved searches and the 'other categories'.

Thank you, Velvet. The issue seems to be resolved as of this morning (1/18/22), even with no update to the Android app. Let's hope it stays fixed!
