Meaningful release notes for app updates?

Would it be possible to have proper release notes when the app is updated?  Simply saying that there have been ‘bug fixes and performance improvements’ isn’t very illuminating!

It would be helpful to know even in general terms what has changed, what issues have been fixed and what problems remain.
