Help: stopped getting eBay notifications on iPhone

Are eBay sellers having the same issue over the past 5 - 10 days?   All of sudden, I am not getting any eBay notifications on my APPLE iPhone (was getting them before this).  I did not do anything to cause this.   Trying to research into and figure out what is going on.  Please note that my iphone software is up to date.  Doing some research, I noticed that Ebay did do an eBay APP update sometime over the last 2 weeks??  Hmmm, is this the cause??  However, I just downloaded the latest eBay APP yesterday.   Notifications are still not working today....yes, all notification settings have been checked/toggled off/on..they are correctly set.   Calling eBay.

Don't waste time calling eBay @stogan707 . Shake your phone while the app is open. That will open the screen for you to file a tech error report.

I think there's an option on the notifications settings page where you can run diagnostics? I don't enable notifications on my eBay app, but I've seen @eburtonlab reference the diagnostics. Maybe he can offer a tip on this.

The Android version of the eBay app has a Diagnose Notifications tool at the bottom of the Notification Settings -- I believe the iOS version has something similar.

Using that tool should indicate which if any settings are preventing notifications from getting through, and also provide an audible indication that notifications are working.

Battery saver settings are one often-overlooked way to block notifications. And sometimes an app update or an OS update can alter settings.

Thank you.  Filed tech report.  Also, I could not find any diagnostics setting (on phone or ebay app), so tried it the hard way by shutting down/starting with 2 volume buttons, etc.  Funny thing, I did ultimately get into the diagnostics screen, but when it asked about "starting", after hitting that button, it immediately went to a screen to go online at APPLE support for help.  i.e. did not run diagnostics.  Lovely 😞

Thank you eBurtonlab:  did not see any iOS diagnostic option.  See above comment in trying this the hard way...with no success.    Battery saver: good point, but looked at this, and I do not have any battery saver features turned on. Just running normal.

Next step maybe to call APPLE Tech support directly......we shall see.

Note I did just do an iOS software update on iPhone, plus downloaded latest eBay APP.  After checking everything again after downloads complete, notifications are still not working.  ugh.

I reread your post and see that you do have eBay notifications enabled. Are you getting notifications from other apps? I have a no contract iPhone, and won't get any notifications if I run out of data usage until I add more; not sure what kind of plan you are using. Good luck!

Yes, on getting notifications from other apps.

Data usage is ok.

Thanks for suggestions.

did not see any iOS diagnostic option.

What is the last thing you see on the bottom of the eBay app Settings Notifications screen if you scroll all the way down?

Hey @eburtonlab - just temporarily enabled eBay notifications on iOS and the diagnostics options you described for Android does not exist on iOS.

Below screenshot is from the eBay app, but I also checked within iOS settings and didn't see an option there, either. Whatever you're seeing on Android appears to be exclusive to Android.

As eBurtonlab identified.  My screen is same as what is shown.  The "General" category is last.

BTW: while on phone with APPLE Tech support this morning, they ran the diagnostics on my phone, and results were that everything seemed fine.

Soooo, notifications problem still not solved.

Aside: curious if my iphone XR with latest APPLE software update iOS 18.2.1, or ebay latest APP update, have something funky going on??  However, notifications worked before I did both the iOS update and eBAY APP update a few days ago when trying to troubleshoot.

@wastingtime101

Interesting. The Android version is organized similarly, but the sections are not collapsed like that; all the options appear on one long, scrolling screen.

Presumably if you open the "General" section there is nothing in there about Notification Diagnostics?

Correct. I won't post them all, but I did take screenshots of each topic screen and there is nothing about notification diagnostics.

Crazy saga continues......overnight, now received an eBay notification on phone.  No idea what is the root cause that enabled these to just start again...I did nothing on phone, nor Cell Carrier, nor eBay since days ago.  Note: after discussing with cellular data carrier yesterday, they are suggesting poor cellular data service could be cause.....they are sending me a new SIM card; haven't received yet.

Hope the new SIM card fixes the problem. If this was on eBay's end we'd typically see a lot of reports, so chances are this is something to do with your device or service.
