Cannot bid on app

I cannot place bids on android app. Uninstalled and reinstalled still get error. Called ebay, I was told problem with update. It has been days, when will this be fixed??

I get this error message. I have called, reinstalled app, etc. Same problem for days.

A quick search using the text of that error message turned up one similar instance from years ago. In that case, it appears the user was able to bid after signing out of the account and then signing back in -- though what the actual problem was, is unclear:

It might be worth clearing cache and data, if you did not reboot your device between uninstalling and re-installing the app. And to verify that you are using the latest version of the eBay app (5.40.1.2).
