Can't update app

Ebay is requiring me to use an updated version.  However, when I try to, I get stuck in a loop.  The prompt is that I must have some iOS version that I don't have, but that I can download an earlier and compatible app.  When I click download, I get stuck in a repetitive loop.  This is preventing me from completing the one and only sale I have been able to make in three years of trying!  What's the work around ?

While you are trying to sort out which version of the eBay app you need, try using a browser to go to ebay.com and complete that sale.
