Camera in the app :- What you see is not what you get!

In the last week or so, when I take a photo in the app,  the resulting photo is cropped unless I click the icon on the screen that represents full screen(?).  (It's the icon with a square and arrows that appears at the top of the screen. It actually makes the photo image smaller as it starts off in full screen before I click that icon).   For every listing, on the first photo I take through the app, I have to click that icon or my all my photos for that listing are cropped.  It's really annoying because I often forget and it's not apparent that the photos have been cropped until I view them on the listing after I've finished taking photos. This causes me to have to scrap the photos and start all over.

I have a Google Pixel 5.  (There was an update to the phone's own camera app recently. I don't know if that information is relevant to this problem. Camera app version 8.8.224.520435764.11).  My ebay app version is 6.106.0.3.

I'm having the same problem.  Thanks for your post - I didn't realize the fullscreen icon was cropping my photos until I read what you posted.

The really frustrating part is that you don't know if the photo is cropped or not until you save it in your draft listing.  It looks fine on the phone screen (while focusing), it looks fine on the mini version that is saved to the draft listing, and it looks fine in the digital editor screen.  Then, you go back to the main listing screen, and notice everything is cropped.  And this happens on photos taken both vertically and horizontally.

However, clicking the fullscreen icon doesn't always result in a non-cropped photo for me.  I have to click, un-click, rotate vertical and horizontal, then click the icon again.  And using the size slider?  Forget about it.  If I even touch that thing, the app refuses to focus the camera on anything closer than 18 inches from my phone.

I have a OnePlus Nord 5G using Android 11 (with all security updates).  Ebay app is 6.106.0.3

Since posting this, I've heard other people describing this issue as a zoom issue.  ie:  The camera is zoomed in by default though the screen doesn't reflect the zoom state.  On my own photos I've noticed that, if I do nothing, the left and right side of my photos are getting cropped. This becomes particularly apparent if I'm holding my phone horizontally.  This interferes with my listing every single day.

Take the photos with the camera setting and then go to the ebay app and load them.  I like to see the photo BEFORE it gets on ebay to make sure that it's ok and the item is clean and the photo is focused.
