I purchased this in a lot of ephemera obtained at an estate sale of a WWII veteran who was a tail gunner. I wasn't looking for (nor do I personally collect) militaria. But I recognized the emblem as that of the 29th Infantry Division (who stormed Normandy) due to some things I previously sold on eBay. I don't know what this satin ribbon was used for, but it clearly shows the 29th Infantry emblem and their motto: Blue and Gray. It also says: WAC UNIT. I did a little research on Google and it says: Yes, members of the Women's Army Corps (WAC) assisted the 29th Infantry Division and other units in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. While the 29th Infantry Division is famous for its combat role in the first wave on Omaha Beach, WACs served in essential support roles behind the lines in England and, later, in liberated France. Can anyone tell me what this ribbon might have been used for? It must have been picked up in Europe by the tail gunner soldier whose estate was sold.
