Help with age and origin of Air Apache copper pin

I have this Air Apache pin, done in copper (its so heavily patinated it took a while with the sunshine cloth to figure it out).  Ive since leanrned quite a bit about the Air Apaches, but am not sure if this pin is then from the 40's, or later? Any help would be appreciated!

It was originallyposted to the jewelry board, here is the link.

Thanks!

Help with age and origin of Air Apache copper pin

This pin not issue nor WWII original insignia

345th Bombardment Wing emblem (approved for the 345th Bombardment Group 21 May 1954

and for the 345th Bombardment Wing 29 May 1958)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/345th_Bombardment_Wing

reactivation of the 345th had its roots on 1 August 1950

Constituted as the 345th Bombardment Wing, Tactical, on 23 March 1953

Activated on 8 October 1957 Inactivated on 25 June 1959

Langley Air Force Base, Virginia

Martin B-57B Canberra and Douglas B-26 Invader, 1957 Wing emblem/insigna

Unit full of history, most likely this is a late 50's or latter pin available at a base BX (Base Exchange)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_Exchange

Just my opinion
