Army Signal Corp pin...what's the T for?

My dad gave these pins to my Mom when he was in the Army Air Forces Signal Corps in WWII. Does anybody know what the "T" stands for?

The T stands for "Technician". The left pin is for a Technician Fifth Grade, or T/5, equivalent to a Corporal.

The other pin is a Technician Fourth Grade, or T/4, equivalent to a Sergeant. Techs didn't have the same leadership role as their equivalent rank would and were considered subordinate to those ranks, though they were the same pay grade.

Techs were trained for a specific job, i.e. radio operator, mechanics, etc.

Thanks! Dad was an engineer working on the development of radar, spent most of the war in the states, then went overseas to India to run a radar installation there.
