Seller Cancelled Transaction Post Auction and Prior to Payment

Howdy,

I won an item (111723412506) with the only bid and no reserve in place. After the auction ended, the seller contacted me and said he 'just' damaged the item on a flight and blamed the airline carrier. Given that the item was barely used (over the last few years) and that the seller replied to a question the day before the bidding ending, I am calling bull on the excuse. I am trying to leave feedback, or contact ebay to ask for photo evidence, but cannot do either. It seems there is nothing that I can do. Any suggestions? The seller has 100% reputation over 26 items.
