Buyer wants full refund, but does not want to return item

I have a buyer who is claiming a pair of flip flops is defective.  At first it appeared whe wanted to keep the shoes, so I offered a partial refund.  She wants a full refund & refuses to send the shoes back.  She claims they are useless (which I do not agree with).  She keeps mentioning my seller rating and says she does not want to open a case, as she knows this is detrimental to my seller rating.  She says returning them is too much trouble,  but they can be mailed first class in the original shipping envelope.  How can I resolve this?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I was asking for my daughter.

If the buyer opens a dispute or request, reply w/ return for refund. You will get a defect when the SNAD is opened. Know that you will pay for the return of the sandals if you stick to "return for refund". If the buyer has been communicating via outside email; insist that the buyer use the ebay message system. If you have the previous messages from the buyer in ebay's system; and there is an overt threat regarding the standing of your account or fb if you don't do as she wants, report the buyer.

IMO, the shoes are either defective, or they aren't. I don't see any middle ground where "defective" flip flops wouldn't be a total loss. If they really are defective, you might as well refund.
