Getting money back on e bay gift cards

Hello,

We are new to e bay and was involved in an automobile sale scam last week.  The seller wanted 6 e bay gift cards (each worth $500) and the receipt sent to them for an automobile priced at $3000.00.  We did not feel the promotion added up, so we did not send the gift cards to the seller and realized it was a scam.  Question is this, how do we get our money back for the purchase of the e bay gift cards.  We would like to purchase items on e bay but they require a credit card or debit card which goes through pay pal.  Many items that we are interested in do not take the e bay gift cards as payments.

Any help?

Glad you realized it was a scam!  

IF the seller takes paypal you can use your gift card.  At check out there is a spot to put in the gift card code.
