I sell stamps. They don't have UPCs. And, if ebay tries to fit them into a category other than the one it is already listed in, I will LOSE sales, as these are very specialized stamps. There's also NO WAY ebay can catalogue the millions of stamps out there for me to associate my products with.
Amazon allows collectible stamps to be listed without UPCs. Will ebay do the same?

I expect them to come up with some idiocy like "use the catalogue number".
Well... which catalogue system?

What about specialized catalogues for niche collecting areas, e.g., Barefoot for world revenue stamps or Weiss for U.S. Civil War patriotic stationery?
Trying to reconcile catalogue numbers is a nightmare for experienced stamp collectors, let alone eBay, which has ZERO experience in the hobby.
Just wait until eBay tries combining the following into a single "group" and the chaos and SNAD claims that ensue:
Mint single
Used single
Mint pair
Used pair
Mint block of 4
Used block of 4
Mint plate block
Mint inscription block
Used single on cover
Used pair on cover
Used block on cover
Used single on First Day Cover
Used single on international cover, solo franking
Used single on international cover, combination franking
Used single on territorial cover
Used single on advertising cover
Mint single, double transfer, position XX
Mint single, double transfer, position YY
Used single, double transfer, position XX
Used single, double transfer, position YY
Mint single, plate scratch
Used single, plate scratch
Used single, fancy cancel type X
Used single, fancy cancel type Y
Used single, PAID cancel
Used single, PAQUEBOT cancel
Used single, revenue cancel
Used single, revenue cancel on document
Used single, blue cancel
Used single, red cancel
Used single, green cancel
I could go on all day.
Now, add faults, flaws, and other aesthetic charactistics to the mix.
THE PRODUCT CATALOG SHOPPING MODEL DOES NOT WORK FOR COLLECTIBLES!!
Please, for the love of GOD, let this idiocy die a quick and deserved death.

Thank you.
