Area Rug / Runner Identification Help

Hi,

I don't know anything about rugs, but I picked one up a few days ago because it was priced so well - It is long -- the width is around 29 - 30". Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. I hope that all is well with everyone!

Best,

B

Can you post a pic of the entire rug? It might make is easier to identify.

It appears to be a fairly modern wool. Is the backing cotton canvas?

The style looks very familiar, but I can't think of who made it.

Is there any tagging on it?

Bargello is a needlepoint stitch with a specific pattern. That canvas is not done in needlepoint.

TY. I know that work has a specific name but I'm blanking. Not crewel either?

I apologize for the late reply. Yes, the backing is canvas, and I agree that the wool is fairly new. I've done a fair amount of research and still can't seem to find my answer.

Have you thought about trying a Google image search with the pattern picture?

Nevermind, I tried with no results.

I've tried, but the results seemed to focus on the pattern and not the weave. An ABC Carpet & Home sales specialist probably knows more than Google, but I can't be that tacky guy who lugs something he didn't purchase from a specific business into said business.

The weave appears to be a handcrafted string weave not done on a loom but by hand sewing the threads each into their place.  It's pretty and I really like it.

I like it, as well, Loretta - I think that it was worth the *cough* $3.00 or so *cough* that my wallet is now missing. I may never know it's origin, but I can say that it looks nice on my wall and that I am beginning to like my neighbors much more - soundproofing with an area rug  > soundproofing with egg crates...somehow people are able to look at styrofoam lining their walls and go about their lives acting as if it is no different than sheetrock. If you have any further insight, please reach out:)
