Well, I knew it'd happen at some point since if we sell long enough, we'll encounter a scammer. I post frequently, but rarely with my selling ID, but this is a time that calls for a post with this ID.
TBH, I'd like to believe that the buyer made an honest mistake and confused her purchase from me with that from another seller. But I'm having a hard time convincing myself.
Item was delivered yesterday and today awoke to a return request for NAD, alleging conditional issues and non-authenticity. Item was professionally authenticated (with COA included and sent to buyer) and the condition as shown in her photos is not the condition of the item I sent. dy a
I've already accepted the return and sent a shipping label but I'm interested in input on my chances of winning an appeal and reporting the buyer. (I realize I can't do anything until after I receive the item back.)
Additionally, as shown in my side-by-side comparisons, although close, the pattern placement indicates that it's not the same item.

That is correct; you cannot appeal something that you, the seller, decided to do.
Regarding condition, if it got returned in 'less than' condition, you offer 'returns' and are Top Rated, you could have deducted 'UP TO' 50%.
ps. you would NOT have won the appeal anyway, as there is NO PROOF of what condition it was in when it was sent (even Authentication would not have 'noticed' that condition since it was listed as 'used').

Quite honestly, the pictures -to me- are all of the same item. Other than a difference of lighting and angles, it looks to me as if this is the item you sent.
Others may chime in, but I'm of the opinion the buyer is presenting you with the correct item. I won't vouch for the veracity of their statements regarding condition nor authenticity, that's not my territory.

And I'm still comparing these photos to be sure.
I would wait until you receive this item back and look carefully at the item to be sure its NOT the one you sent before lighting up the buyer.
I'm still of the opinion that all of the photos are of the same item. Counting stiches, pattern locations and spatial relation of the pattern to edges and stitching, to me all match. Cameras aren't all the same, its hard to match photos where the conditions and equipment used aren't identical.
Tread carefully.

You did a great job of photographing the item from all angles. Beautiful pictures. So what’s the buyer hawking about as far as not authentic and what proof do they supposedly have that this is not authentic. Also what conditional stuff are they referring to. Actually their pictures in some way make the item look an even BETTER brighter color. LOL!

Did you try to post this in the Handbags forum? Lots of really knowledgeable people there that could give you some more insight.
Happy Holidays.

Well, they might show the same item in the picture and actually send back something else. This was a pretty expensive little change purse. I would wait to see exactly what comes back and them show ebay in the dispute pictures what came back. Then proceed with the possible dispute. Could be a remorse return and op will get back what they sent, could be a switch scam as well.

Yes, that’s correct. Lighting and different picture taking skills etc can make the item look different in the return request.

Yeah that D-ring is off placement. Looks fishy. The V shaped dots are off.
12-25-2022 04:12 PM
I agree. There are all kinds of things the buyer could do...
But what have they done at this point?
I'm a 52 year old male. So I'm not up on handbags(😉) so all I can add to the convo is that I believe all of the photos match. There are differences in angles and lighting that can deceive, but I fully believe this is the same item.
I will probably be another hour looking at these photos.
My only admonition is that people not jump to conclusions yet. The buyer has probably already done so by pointing fingers, and the OP would be better off getting the item back in hand first before jumping the gun and making a potentially bad situation worse.

Did you see the D-RING and the vertical dots under it, they do not match.

They look like the same purse to me too, just different angles, lighting, camera quality, etc. But I'm not an expert. I would wait & see what you receive before doing anything.
Also, just a note, on the last pics, do you have the captions reversed?

Yes... The d ring is off by 20 degrees in one photo and the whole right side of the d ring tag is out of frame. If you slightly turned the bag to the left, it would align.

I agree. Wait to get the item back. Go from there. They were wise is allowing the return and free shipping label.

The top flap is tucked differently too, so it skews a bunch of the pattern in view.
Still examining... Still thinking it is the same item.
I'm using my troubleshooting skills to look at this item. The smallest details line up, its just down to shading and angles.

With that type of pattern, I would say that it would be a very slim chance to none if the buyer's pics were of a different bag.
The details of the pattern placement align too perfectly to be another entity.
